Pros

-Good (not great) IP (there are emerging competitors that are already stealing considerable market share) -Fantastic employees committed to the vision -Stellar customer portfolio -Mediocre (at best) comp and benefits

Cons

Where to begin? Let's start with senior leadership that: -burns cash like it's going out of style (luxurious company trips to Tahoe with accommodations at the Ritz, chartered cruises, and extravagant dinners despite public knowledge that the economy was already in retraction and the worst is yet to come) -grows teams not because the business requires it, but because senior leaders have a skewed perception that bigger cost centers equal career growth...I have never encountered leaders as self-serving as those at Databook -invests absurd amounts of money in R&D for a non-existent product that the market neither wants or needs (it is abundantly clear that Databook doesn't actually understand sellers and are more interested in cramming their perspective down the throats of their users) -reinforces a toxic culture of harassment, micromanagement, and in-fighting despite a multitude of documented complaints and high-profile departures -opts for 25% staff reductions to make up for their poor decisions (that, of course, doesn't touch the CEO's in-crowd) The list goes on. Steer clear if you value your career. Working for Databook means working for leadership that doesn't value your growth or safety; instead prioritizing their own extravagant tastes and careers.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feelings and views. We acknowledge that there is ill feeling here and clearly some items that merit response. Databook is committed to ensuring a culture of inclusivity and participation in our company culture. There are those rare times that people make choices that reflect on how an employee or leader may feel about their work. At the end of the day, we do our best to resolve conflicts. Our vision and product are very well defined to meet the sellers perspective and strategic needs to penetrate their market. We continue to strive for improvement and excellence in our product and rely on our internal team and customers to help us deliver accordingly. We take time to survey our employees on engagement and experience as a way for us to make a meaningful impact on their company experience. Our recent scores indicate we are on par with similar software companies. We are committed to continual improvement both in our product and employee experience. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. We will reflect on what items we can internalize and make a positive change. If you would like to speak with us directly to discuss your concerns, we welcome the opportunity to discuss.

Pros

There are a few sharp colleagues you will work with. The product as a whole was well received by users for awhile. The pay is good. Maybe benefits?

Cons

Everything, other than what is listed above, truly. The people and culture is horrendous. While there are some intelligent people to learn from, they're way too ego centric or self-centric to ever try to collaborate with or learn from. They will have significant customer churn this year, because while the product showcases well, it's not user friendly and way more robust than 99% of sellers would ever use. And where they invest resources and planning is not around improving the end user experience, and if they are, they are way behind other technologies.

Bait and switch -Be Careful

Pros

A fast-growing company with friendly employees. Other than that, there are no other pros.

Cons

High revolving employees coming and (quiting) going out. It is a "Bait and Switch" job description. I was hired for one job but expected to others as well. Employees that raise their voices over these concerns are shown the door. Turnover is very high. CEO does not understand work and life balance. Terrible health benefits and does not pay for mobile phone or monthly bill but the management expects employees to be available by cell phone at all times of day, night or weekends.

Thank you for taking the time to voice this feedback about Databook. We’re glad you find the people here to be friendly, but it sounds like there are other dimensions of your experience here that aren’t as positive. As a growing start-up, it’s true that sometimes we’re asked to get things done which are above and beyond our job descriptions. As we keep scaling, we know this will be less true (we’re hiring on literally every team at Databook this year) – but we’ll also always value people who go the extra mile to make this place better. We hear you on the benefits as well – the well-being of our team and their families are important to us and we’re making effort to improve these as we grow. We just upgraded our healthcare benefits offering to Silver-tier plans (100% covered for the employee and 50% for their dependents), in addition to retirement plan contributions, 4 weeks’ annual vacation, Masterclass subscriptions, an annual learning stipend and a home office equipment budget. Last but not least, thank you for raising the work/life balance issue as it’s something we’re actively working on – we expect our continued growth to help with this (we went from about 20 to 70 employees in 2021, and we’ll reach close to 180 this year). All of that said, we are sorry you’re disappointed with your experience here. Please know we would appreciate the chance to talk with you about this directly, so please reach out to your manager or the CEO anytime.
