Think twice about applying

Pros

Some good few people that make it worth staying

Cons

1. Management is extremely toxic and expect you to complete tasks without communicating to you. This mis-communication between managers and juniors is also very common and causes huge issues but is never sorted out. Management have no training or experience so when they are faced with problems nothing is done to solve or help the issue presented. 2. Extremely underpaid compared to other insurance companies and work load is HIGH. Expected to start early and finish late as part of CFC ‘norm’. There is a huge pay gap between individuals doing the same job with the same experience just depends on whether management believe your face and GENDER fits. 3. Over the last year higher management has changed a lot and not for the best. A lot of benefits have been scrapped and CFC culture is low. Not ‘work hard play hard’ as they promote it, it is more work hard and that’s it. 4. Promotions aren’t based on what you have achieved it’s how long you’ve been there, so is a waiting game on who leaves for you to then get your chance.

Thank you for sharing this. We are sorry to hear that your experience at CFC did not feel as positive as we would hope. Hearing different perspectives is important to us. CFC has been growing quickly and much of the change people have felt is linked to that growth. With more people and bigger teams, the way we work has had to shift, and we know that this has not always felt as clear or as joined up as it should. The points you raised around communication, workload and decision making have come up in conversations with colleagues too, and they are areas we are actively improving. Over the past year we have been working hard on giving colleagues clearer information, more reliable communication and improved support as the company grows. We are also strengthening onboarding, leadership development and wellbeing so that people have more guidance and feel better supported from the start. While your experience did not reflect the culture we want people to feel here, we appreciate you taking the time to share it. Our aim is to build an environment where people feel supported, able to grow and proud of the work they do. If you would be open to it, we would welcome a chance to understand a little more about your experience. You can reach us in confidence at hr@cfc.com. Thank you again for sharing your perspective.

Pros

Genuinely a fun place to work lots of opportunity for progression and work outside the realms of their job title

Cons

lagging on salary for underwriters and above - it seems adjustments have been made for the lower bandings but not the uppers it's a shame that a large portion of senior management are made up of new people rather than long-time CFCers.

Pros

Clear strategy, pedigree in cyber and innovation, fair and relaxed workplace, bags of opportunity to develop. Ambitious and hardworking culture- not for those who want an easy 9-5 to coast through.

Cons

Can occasionally be a bit dense in management layers, but that comes with substantial growth. Work in progress there.

Amazing culture. Highly entrepreneurial with very thoughtful management. Really pushing the boundaries of underwriting innovation and thinking. It has the rare combination of a great place to start your career and an amazing place to grow and lead businesses.

Cons

High growth can make things feel rushed at times.

Pros

Some good eggs in each team.

Cons

- Whole company is a game of favourites of upper management. You only do well if your face fits. - Unsupportive and bloated middle management who will happily throw you under the bus - in some cases more managers to employees. - Excessive workloads with no recognition for going above and beyond - in both verbal recognition and pay. - No qualification/experience required to enter management leaving you in the hands of people that have no answers, no power to solve issues, and in some cases employees training/sharing authority with managers. - severely reduced employe perks - company heavily relies on dated "best place to work trophies" in the coffee area.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your time at CFC hasn’t reflected the kind of culture we’re working to build. We know that feedback like this is important. While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we also recognise there’s more to do. Over the past year, we’ve taken steps to improve, and we’d like to share a few areas where we’ve made meaningful changes: - Investing in leadership development and performance management, including clearer structures and criteria around promotions and pay, because we genuinely want to give everyone a stake in our success. - Building on strong engagement scores for work–life balance by expanding wellbeing initiatives, encouraging flexible working, and training managers to better support balance and recognition. - Adding new benefits like paid volunteer days, health checks, celebration days, and wellbeing events. - Providing more training, coaching, and clearer expectations for people leaders, alongside a strengthened onboarding experience with growth plans in place by day 90. We appreciate that experiences can vary, and we’re committed to making CFC a place where everyone feels supported and set up to succeed. If you’re open to it, we’d welcome a confidential conversation to understand more about your experience. Please feel free to reach us at hr@cfc.com
