Pros

Used to drawn fantastic individual people due to the mission

Cons

The company used to be good in many ways, but has since prioritized senior leadership above all else (including actual efficient/smart business decisions). The mission has been the sacrificial lamb for a long time and they continue to plow through incompetent CEO after incompetent CEO. They now don't even offer actual health insurance in part to save money, in part because no health insurance will sign a contract with them after their track record of financial irresponsibility (e.g., filing bankruptcy with no actual plan).

It used to be great, not under the new leadership.

Cons

Constant restructuring and layoffs, forced return to office without enough desks for everyone, management decisions, lack of transparency, HR is completely disorganized, horrible health insurance, complete disregard for DEI.

Pros

Working from home was the absolute only benefit while working there.

Cons

After committing financial suicide by acquiring a non-profit for a whopping $800 million dollars, the company managed to destroy it's culture by favoring edX employees over original staff. That's when the company began it's descent into chaos. More bad decisions by the so-called leadership, constant restructuring with mass layoffs. To top it all off, blatant lies by the CEO about their ridiculous bonuses, right before declaring bankruptcy. The company was privatized, only to go through more restructuring. It's only a matter of time until 2U is sold to the highest bidder.

Pros

The people in the trenches doing the work are amazing and dedicated. Lots of people believe in the mission for making education available and affordable for all around the globe. Good work-life balance. Great team leads and managers at the bottom. I was always encouraged to take PTO.

Cons

Inept leadership and terrible culture at the top. Revolving door of C-Suiters that grab their money and run. Lack of a product-driven roadmap. Cross-team functionality feels broken because of the lack of people available to do the work (due to RIFs and attrition). Low low low morale. Years of no review cycles, promotions, raises, or bonuses. A world of big promises and empty words.

Unlimited PTO is the best thing here

Cons

Lackluster benefits and pay. Senior leadership is mediocre at best. If you're on a good team, you will like it here
