At Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our ākonga are always at the centre of what we do. For more than a century, we've supported learners across Aotearoa - evolving from lessons once delivered on horseback to today's future focused learning that can be done anywhere, anytime.

Ākonga at Te Kura choose subjects based on their passions and interests, accessing learning online supported by kaiako who guide, inspire, and drive engagement. Alongside this, kaiako provide pastoral care and connect with ākonga through regular huinga ako — online or face to face — where learners connect, receive guidance, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position

We are looking for a creative, innovative Kaiako (teacher) who's an expert in Pathways to join our Central South team based in our Wellington, Palmerston North or New Plymouth tari (office).

In this role, you will:

• Design and deliver personalised, authentic learning programmes tailored to the strengths and needs of ākonga.

• Facilitate weekly Huinga Ako, guiding and supporting students through their educational journeys.

• Collaborate with colleagues and interact with students online and in person to foster meaningful learning experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Te Kura's ongoing transformation of distance learning.

You will bring:

• New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
• Experience teaching Pathways Education and a solid understanding of the NZ Curriculum
• A genuinely caring, inclusive teaching style that puts ākonga at the centre
• Confidence using a range of digital tools to communicate, collaborate, and support engaging learning
• A team-focused mindset, optimistic energy, and a real passion for teaching and learning
