Pros

Good colleagues Market-leading technology Decent canteen They keep paying me

Cons

Toxic management that spend too much time playing student politics and seem to believe that they are morally superior by trying to bring about societal change. This is used as a facade for their lies and discriminatory practices. Meanwhile back in the real world this is a company treading water that will never escape its massive debts. They have tried all they can to abandon oil and gas but nothing has worked and now they are going back to what they know but with a workforce that is now disillusioned, confused and lacking motivation. A new CEO with a clear vision and strategy is desperately needed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that you valued your colleagues, our canteen, benefits, and the technology you worked with. Since transitioning from CGG to Viridien, we have been actively expanding into new business areas, including the broader Energy Sector. We continue to lead in Imaging Processing, and our focus on innovation remains strong as we diversify our portfolio. Regarding your concerns about management, we take this feedback seriously. As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace, we have strengthened our focus on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). This includes dedicated training for Hiring Managers and the establishment of an Employee Resource Group (ERG) in the UK to support and promote inclusive practices across the organization. We appreciate your candid input and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Viridien Team

Pros

The people overall are true to the company values, so open, keen to share, willing to go the extra mile for colleagues and clients and professional. It’s also quite unique in terms of the technical work which is very physics-based with lots of signal processing, and you can get a real sense of achievement because your work does have direct real world impact. If you are someone who enjoys learning and thrives on being active and having multiple things on the go, then you will enjoy the mix of long-term and short-term project work and variety of things to do and learn. On-site canteen, car park and bike shed. Private medical and dental.

Cons

There is a huge amount to learn which can be a little overwhelming to start with. Also this is not a job if you want to be comfortable! Although innovation is incentivised, project deadlines and the day to day means it can be difficult to find the time to be a bit creative if its not directly impacted on your project. The work is mainly oil and gas although the company is trying to diversify.

Pros

Free secure on site parking Pension is ok.

Cons

I regretted my decision to join soon after starting. Immediate colleagues helpful and pleasant but toxicity from managers and leadership was rife. Even reps from HR are rude and unpleasant. I studied hard for my degree and wish I had taken one of the other opportunities on the table. I see little opportunity for progression here and skills learned here are only useful here.

Pros

Viridien is a great company to work for, with a positive and professional working environment. The company has a strong international footprint, a diverse mix of nationalities and backgrounds, and a good balance of technical depth and business ambition. Colleagues are friendly, collaborative, and highly capable, and the leadership team is generally accessible and open to discussion. The work can be challenging and intellectually interesting, especially for people who enjoy technical, global, and client-facing environments.

Cons

Career progression could be much clearer and more structured. Promotion paths, development plans, and expectations for advancement are not always easy to understand, which creates uncertainty for employees who want to grow within the company. Salaries are also slightly below market average in some areas, and compensation should remain competitive to retain strong talent. Like many global technical companies, priorities can also shift quickly, so clearer communication and consistency would help.

Viridien? More Like Viri-don’t

Pros

Getting started was easy enough, and I’ll give them that — the entry process is smooth, the staff is friendly, and the new logo is actually a nice upgrade. The building has a certain retro charm, but mostly just feels tired and outdated. Parking’s decent, if you’re lucky. Overall, Viridien feels more like a missed opportunity than a modern experience. Some nice touches, but not enough to earn more than two stars from me.

Cons

DEI is surface-level at best – The company talks the talk, but in practice, inclusion feels selective. It's a great place… if you're a white man or woman. Racism still exists in subtle — and sometimes not-so-subtle — ways, with little accountability. Toxic internal politics – Advancement often depends more on who you know than what you contribute. Work-life balance is poor – Long hours are quietly expected, and boundaries aren’t respected. Lack of team spirit – Collaboration feels forced, and genuine support between colleagues is rare. Sketchy layoff practices – Transparency is low, and decisions around terminations often feel arbitrary or pre-decided. Leadership hypocrisy – Values preached at the top aren't practiced day-to-day. Disappointing for a company with a female CEO – You’d expect better leadership on equity, but the reality doesn’t match the image.

What a depressing place to work...

Recommend

Business outlook

Pros

Some genuinely talented and supportive colleagues who try to do good work despite the environment. Decent benefits. A strong and active social committee that puts real effort into organising events, which can make the place feel a bit lighter despite the day-to-day issues.

Cons

Lack of role models ....They talk a lot about diversity and inclusion, bring in guest speakers, run workshops… and then the senior leaders behave in ways that completely contradict all of it. At times it even crosses into openly discriminatory behaviour. If you raise concerns, you’ll likely face group pressure or be pushed out. The culture just isn’t mature... harassment is brushed off or quietly tolerated at the top. Work–life balance is basically non-existent. Long hours are simply how things are done and nobody in leadership seems interested in changing it, even though it’s clearly taking a toll on people’s mental health across multiple teams. Everyone sees it, no one addresses it. Leadership is toxic. Many managers have no real management skills, yet they’re protected because the place runs on politics and connections rather than merit. Cronyism everywhere. Politics over competence, every time.

unhealthy culture and weak leadership

Recommend
CEO approval
Business outlook

Pros

Global exposure. International working environment. Some learning opportunities. Good colleagues. Nice office and convenient access. Useful experience in a global organisation.

Cons

No real internal mobility. Highly political culture. Fear-led management rather than clear leadership. Very little accountability at senior level. Immature communication style. Indirect and often manipulative behaviour. Guilt-tripping and passive aggression. Vague criticism instead of honest feedback. Different message in private and in public. Information withheld as a power tool. Credit taken upwards, blame pushed downwards. Unprofessional and often childish environment. Too much workplace drama. Can feel more like a playground than a serious business. Low compensation.
