Good place to work, but limited growth

Pros

Company is supportive, good perks, flexible working arrangements. Encourages open communication and discussion.

Cons

Poor guidance for newcomers, relying mostly on mouth-to-ear teaching of concepts and know-hows. Limited skillset growth with little transferable skills taught, with knowledge of in-house software and technology only relatable to the company. Long working hours expected during peak periods of project or when understaffed. Support is often missing and one is required to source for help from all over the place on their own.

Pros

- Friendly work culture, lots of young employees makes it a good transition from Uni. - Flexible working hours and hybrid role. - Technical and engaging work. - Subsidised canteen food. - Quarterly bonus scheme. - Some good perks (dental insurance, health insurance, holiday roll-over, option to work/trade bank holidays)

Cons

- Pay is less than competitors. - Progression is very subjective. If you are the unlucky one who is placed in an unsupportive team or on a difficult project your progression can be seriously halted (vice versa you can also progress very quickly if you land in a supportive team). Many talented employees have been lost because of a lack of awareness from higher management and failure to see the blame doesn't lie with the individual. - Crawley isn't a particularly inspiring place (commute from Brighton or London isn't too bad though).

Pros

- Flexible working hours and hybrid work. We can easily manage our time according to our workload. - More than average leave days/year - Many benefits (cafeteria or restaurant voucher, gym, medical coverage, benefits platform to buy tickets with discount, etc.) - E-learning and live sessions (there was the CGG University before, which offered fantastic trainings, but it doesn't exist anymore). - Really positive and relaxed work environment. Super nice and friendly people. - In all offices there are employees from many different nationalities, as the company promotes a lot of internal mobility.

Cons

- It lacks communication is all forms (updates, how the business is doing, regular meetings with all employees are rare and so on) - Top leadership is very absent and disconnected from the ground - Processes are non-existent! Plus no-one feels accountable for anything, which makes progress very slow and inefficient. - CGG was once a big company and most people uses the changes as excuse for how things are now. If you are the one open minded trying to adapt from what you were used, you'll struggle.

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are delighted to hear that you have so many great things to say about CGG and our working environment and learning opportunities. For this last one, we would like to highlight that the former CGG University has become CGG Learning Hub, an exclusive platform with an extensive suite of CGG developed courses and learning communities, aimed to support each individual personal growth in areas related to both technical and personal skills. We appreciate your feedback on the areas we still need to improve, and you can be sure it is on our radar or being looked at. Regards your comment about our managers, at CGG we created a range of programs (5 pillars, 360 feedback, Coaching program..) to support our managers to develop their teams. And “Effective Communication” is the very first pillar we work with them on the “5 pillars for managers”, as we acknowledge the importance to convey clear messages and keep the lines of communication open. Thank you once again for your review and hope that your path will cross with ours again in the future. All the best, CGG Team

Pros

- relatively flat team-build structure - great subsidized food and coffee - modern work topics and environment - company culture means well, if ineffectually run - Reasonable benefits, if overcomplicated - flexible working hours

Cons

- non-industry standard pay for work / real-wage drop against inflation - managers with minimal management experience - bloated upper management - harangued to "innovate" - large-company drawbacks such as lengthy approval processes / inefficient reporting / difficult IT
