Vacasa had my review SCRUBBED from Glassdoor

Pros

A paycheck that will keep you off the street, just barely.

Cons

Last year (before the merger was finalized) I had posted a 1-star, negative review of this company. A few months later, I noticed this review as missing from my “Contributions” section in my profile. I emailed Glassdoor support to inquire about why it was removed and to request it be reinstated if it did not violate TOS. Glassdoor support advised me there were no deleted reviews from my account and nothing to restore. This is absolute bogus, as my review had been successfully published from this exact account (I have no other Glassdoor accounts) AND I remember seeing it had multiple “helpful” votes on it before it had been taken down - meaning other people were able to view it, too. The title at the time was simply “Sinking Ship”, posted very shortly after the May 2024 layoffs decimated the team I am on, and included pointed criticism towards C-Suite’s UNMITIGATED GREED. I am 100% convinced that Vacasa’s team had my review REMOVED from this platform. Well, now I have even more to say and I will keep reposting if need be … Take two! Vacasa is insistent upon hiring people from outside of the country (i.e., offshore call centers), not because they want to positively globalize their organization, but because they DO NOT WANT TO PAY A LIVING WAGE, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE AT “THE BOTTOM OF THE TOTEM POLE” - SPECIFICALLY, CUSTOMER SERVICE/GUEST EXPERIENCE. As all of these capitalistic bootlickers eventually do, they push out folks from the United States (re: consistent, massive layoffs) and then nearly immediately bring in people from outside North America who will work for significantly less money. Then, they DO NOT TRAIN these new hires properly, resulting in EVEN MORE WORK for the rest of the team. Speaking of layoffs - the choices of who to let go (especially during the May 2024, 800-person purge) are completely nonsensical. Some of the best and most tenured employees on my team were unceremoniously stripped of their employment, while many of the least productive, least skilled, and least reliable folks stayed on. Over one year after this cataclysmic shake-up, my team has still not adjusted to the ~50% reduction we faced and I am left picking up much of the slack from “teammates” who do not do their fair share. I have brought this up numerous times (with proof and examples) to management to no avail. Nothing changes (except my workload - it keeps increasing!). There is NO upward mobility at this company. I have applied to multiple new positions that I am more than qualified for, and can barely get an interview let alone a new role. They send an email saying “this specific position is no longer available”, “we went a different direction”, etc., then 8/10 times the role reopens on Greenhouse within 2 weeks. It's almost embarrassing now to try to go through the internal application process, as every time you want to apply internally you first have to let your direct manager know. There are also no training/development initiatives to help people move into other positions or departments. I have been with the company for half a decade, and have been trying to move into something more aligned for about 3 years, but I am stuck. There was a general sense of everyone holding their collective breaths during Q4 2024 & Q1/Q2 2025 due to the impending merger; I think it is not farfetched to say that many were afraid for the safety of their jobs. After the merger was complete, I have not been able to release my breath. One of my current daily tasks is training AI to eventually take my job. There is 0 sense of stability, 0 sense of belonging, no meaningful culture or environment of cultivating employee’s growth or well-being. No improvements, no plans, no future. Just another multi-million dollar company, squeezing its indentured servants to death for every last drop of productivity they’re worth. TLDR: Run - don't walk - away from this company.

Pros

Great manager, decent pay, fun job locations, independence

Cons

Local upper management unsupportive, no room for growth, no pay increase after almost 3 years, hours cut to part time after 2.5 years of full time to spread more hours among contractors versus employees.

Pros

Only pro was working remote

Cons

I would leave zero stars if I could. I worked in owner support for over 2 years. The company went through constant internal changes and restructuring. I had a total of 4 different managers during my employment one of which was let go during their round of layoffs. The pay is not competitive and below average. I was told when I was hired I would get a pay increase and after I was hired I was told there would be a 2nd increase. The pay increase was around 50 cents and not what I was told or anticipated. This job was always meant to be temporary as the management was incredibly unprofessional and toxic. I didn’t think I would still have this job after 2 years. Towards the end of my time at Vacasa I saw on their job board they were hiring for my position in other states and the pay range was $17-21. Despite my positive performance reviews from management and requesting more than the increase I was given they advised they couldn’t pay more than what I was given. After over 2 years I still wasn’t making $20 an hour. The company is extremely unorganized and has a high turnover of their clients. They over promise and under deliver when they sign up owners and the owners eventually terminate their contract. After the most recent internal restructuring a co-worker applied and was given the team leader role. I was moved to her team and things quickly went downhill. She made it her mission to find fault in everything I did and to find any and every reason to find a way to terminate me because there was nothing she could find in my performance. Absolutely not management material. She would demand things to be done by end of day while not contributing as a leader to the team. There are so many things that transpired with this managers behavior it’s completely unacceptable. She actually did me a favor because quitting and moving on was the best decision. Only take a job at this company if you’re desperate and need an income temporarily or in between jobs. Stay clear of the northern Rockies team they are horrible people and the team leader and regional director shouldn’t be in leadership. There are some good managers and people in the company but this is definitely a dead end job with horrible benefits. The benefits also changed during my employment and were so expensive I had to cancel my medical insurance. The CEO of the company also resigned which should tell you something. All the smart people left this company once they realized how terrible the company is. I would never hire this company to manage one of my biggest assets, my home. I reached out to HR several times to notify them of what I was experiencing with my new management and they didn’t do anything about it and wouldn’t even respond. This company will dispose of you despite your contribution. They also shorted one of my last paychecks. I should have left this company a long time ago and now that I’ve quit I’m so glad I’m moving on. Beware of this before you take a job at this company and have a back up plan. This company is on a downward trajectory and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went bankrupt.
