Poor senior level management Lip service to employee management

Too many acquisitions by other companies. Most people do not approve of the current CEO (Raghu Raghuram) who has destroyed the company's legacy and stature that former CEO (Patrick P. Gelsinger; current CEO of Intel Corp.) had built over several years. Organisational Politics. The senior management does not give any insight, clarity of direction to employees including the most senior employees. News of acquisition comes as a surprise to all employees including the ones working at SVP, VP or Director level. Ever since the company went public in November 2021, it was announced by the CEO that VMware will operate independently now. But in April, when the CEO and top management was denying all rumours of acquisition by Broadcom, the CEO drops a bomb via email to all employees of the company that Broadcom will be acquiring them. This followed the cycles of massive lay-offs contributing to the typical acquisition process of Broadcom. I can only say that it used to be a great company but post Broadcom acquisition, it will be seeing massive lay-offs (that is already in process) and soon like other brands that Broadcom acquired and destroyed (CA, Brocade, Symantec; etc.); it will destroy VMware on the whole too. Not to forget the unethical business practices of Broadcom such as stock options backdating and anti-competitive practices for which Broadcom has already been fined heavily in the past.

• Some teams can be stressful to meet deadlines. Deadlines are sometimes made up and do not concern the actual business. Kind of feels like carrot and stick mentality. • Some senior engineers/principal/staff that have stayed here for longer than 5-7 years are growing roots like house plants and are hard to move (innovate). • Senior engineer feels like you are junior here because management gives our Staff/Principal roles to their home boys for writing blog posts. • You do not get promoted here for writing good code or performance. It's more about how you brown-nose to the managers and if you are on-board with their kamikadze plans. • You will be married to the technical debt created by some guy who has left 2 years ago and is having fun architecting new things somewhere else (being paid more and working on brand new technologies).

Senior management can be better

Specific nature of certain work areas can get super busy and ticket backlogs are a thing, can cause burnout if managementis not good. Disconnect between frontline Support Engineers and Senior upper management im certain areas.

Senior management frowns upon quick growth and not the place to join if you're a young over-achiever. That isn't going to be rewarded here.

People in the Palo Alto office hardly did any work. The senior management only cared about schmoozing

Pay increases not very competitive.

Local Management and Senior leadership do not seem to have clear north and constant changes are heavily impacting employees.
