Poor culture - A company not to be!

Pros

1. Very talented people are conned into joining the company so you do have the luxury of working with exceptional people around you 2. Sincere and hardworking people are royally exploited, so it is a good learning in terms of the worst life can throw at you and infuses ample confidence to come out stronger 3. Childish planning, poor company strategy and on the spur decision making ensures that you get a lot of exposure to learning how things should not be done and become a better professional

Cons

Preface: All the negative reviews out there are authentic and honest. They are not at all exaggerated but just the tip of the Iceberg of what lies within. Some of the positive ones are an outcome of the HR pestering current employees to write good reviews. 1. The self-proclaimed world-class tech company does not even have an automated payroll system which ensures that it takes at least 15 additional days on an average for your salary to reflect into your bank account(Example: You can expect your salary for the month of January to be reflected by 15th February, if you are lucky) . It is an irony that the company is into building AI, ML and NLP based products. 2. Similarly, in case you have dues (which I strongly suggest to not get conned into any scheme), it can take 6-8 months to be cleared. 3. If you are looking for augmenting your skills, learning new things, harnessing your abilities, etc. please look somewhere else. You'll be used here as the FALL guy during your tenure. 4. You should keep in mind that you are selling your self-respect and dignity when joining VMock and expect no less 5. In terms of the work, you will be required to work long hours like 16-18 hours 7 days a week (w.r.t to IST) followed by pointless meetings during the night with Founders (w.r.t CST) where you'll be usually pulled up and asked stupid rhetorical questions. This 1-way communication is pretty good because your perseverance and patience usually shoots up after a day's work 6. Campus Hiring decisions (both tech and non-tech) are taken with an anticipation of the number of people leaving the company and there is absolutely no regard to the skills or the roles and responsibilities associated with any such decision. 7. On your first day you will be told that you will have complete ownership of your work and from the very next day, the micromanagement will start. If you are delivering results then you will be questioned on your processes and if you are focusing on the processes you will be questioned on where are the results? This vicious cycle will go on till time immemorial. And soon you will realize that no matter what you do it will never be good enough. 8. Excessive time will be wasted by making you work and plan for a very critical project. You will be questioned, belittled and criticised on your work. And in the coming days the project will fizzle out and the artificial urgency will be nowhere to be seen. Why? Oh - the mood changed! Or maybe it was a long weekend and the plan was to make your life miserable. It is also a mystery that usually the request from Founders will be coming in on Fridays with a deadline to be delivered by Mondays only to be forgotten by Tuesdays. 9. Basic Amenities like a cafeteria, canteen, claim processing system, cab facility, or anything that is synonymous with an organization is basically missing. 10. There is a genuine need for experienced professionals to take up operations in the company, both in case of guiding projects, strategy, mentoring developers etc. But then, experienced people are usually smart enough to sense what they are getting into.

A tale of incompetence, narcissism and shallowness

Pros

Most of the employees are (were) great. They are young energetic people who are really smart and hard working. However due to the regressive policies of the company, the attrition rate is pretty high. Hence the only pro this tech start-up is supposed to have, is vanishing quickly.

Cons

Usually in any startup, there is a leader who has a clear vision. There are none here. Employees are always miserable because they are treated like cattle. A sick guy was made to work overnight despite his sickness well known to everybody. Salary of another talented employee was withheld during his absence, which he took for his life-critical surgery. The employees are shouted, yelled at and made to feel worthless every now and then. I believe it's not really a company, more like a general store. 'Current day profit' is all that matters. To achieve that even if the company has to block someone's salary, bonus, abuse someone, fire someone, it won't mind. It is just usual business. Accounts/Finance department: Totally incompetent. The department creates unnecessary hassle even for the simplest of queries. It has absolutely no power but believes on the contrary. CTO: Their is no CTO. The company believes it hires the smartest people in the market (college graduates) and "guides them to the infinity and beyond". Therefore since everyone is smart, there is no need for a CTO. HR Department: HRD is in quantum state, it's there and not there at the same time. Additional Cons: There are no formal policies in the company. As in no working hours/days policy, leave policy, holiday schedule, health related policy, common code of conduct, promotion hierarchy, bonus related policy. Everything happens on the go and most are without any documentation. They will keep on changing the goal post. So, if you are looking for any monetary gains after joining, please reset your expectations. There is a cafeteria where you'll never find anything to eat. So there is no provision of lunch or eatery. Once in a while, you'll be ordered to listen to somebody's useless, redundant, nonsensical, random and fake motivational speeches to make that person feel important. This goes on for hours. tldr; Save yourself. Do not get carried away by the salary. It's a trap.

Pros

Fancy compensation but salary paid after 10th of every month. Worth prosecuting! Very talented but Tormented souls working in a Haunting atmosphere! Laptop provided. You end up working from home everyday and on weekends. HR policies.....do not exist No pros at all.

Cons

Employee attrition rate very high. FAKE work environment... Not a 9-6, 5 days job. they mail you at random time after office hours and on weekends. Vision-less and direction-less management.. takes instinctive decisions. No planning at all. Random work. Meetings are goalless and senseless. you can test knowledge of management in 3hr long in-conclusive pointless discussions everyday often followed by one-to-one GAS sessions with founder. Valuable 4-5 hours lost in this stupidity. Tiring and Frustrating. Management has no technical knowledge. When senses prevail over sack of money, one realises there is no future here. quickly vanish.
