No pay or incentive. Highly competitive gossip based workplace and at times an uncomfortable workplace.
The pay structure with this business is disgusting and exploitive. You work 48 hours a month and get paid £495, with a direct debit that comes straight back out, therefore being classed as income and affects your annual tax allowance. This, in my eyes is a loop hole to get out of slave labour.
There should be an amount you pay per month or session and you choose your hours, but instead your a glorified cleaner, who can’t choose when he or she works and expected to do 2 classes a shift and multiple talks throughout your 4 hour shift and expected to find clients in your time there.
At times, found my business cards destroyed and found other trainers cards on my display , which is intrusive and disrespectful.
Got the impression management would cherry pick who they want and leave you with scraps. Found inductions was mainly done by management, therefore sealing a potential lead and felt the exposure for FT’s was limited.
No real flexibility on what shifts you can work and dictated by holiday allowances? Even though you’re not making an income? It’s ridiculous and personally can’t see this cooperation running like this for the next 5 years as it’s wrong.
Towards the end of my tenure, I was going through a rough patch and received zero support during this, but only being chased each day as to when I’d be back.
And because I was still in my probation, any shifts you’d be sick for, you would have to make up, so you’d end up doing 4 shifts a week and therefore creating an external pressure to come back , when you’re clearly not in a frame of mind or well.
Biggest regret of my fitness career so far! If management was respectful and understanding of my resignation, I wouldn’t be leaving this review.
And my resignation email recommending me to leave a review also.
