Pros

Comp plan is decent and many account execs are killing it here and achieving over quota. Good place to be if you have many years of experience in enterprise software. Lots of money to be made in big data.

Cons

Management claims transparency but they operate in a dishonest way. There was an external firm they hired to conduct a survey of how employees felt about Talend's culture. The results were tabulated, and the report was made available to all employees. Seems pretty transparent right? Since then, no action items have been taken to improve the culture at Talend other than the CEO claiming that it brought tears to his eyes during our recent Town Hall. There are rumors floating around that some of the employees who responded negatively to the survey did not receive a good performance review. Was the purpose of the survey really to improve things at Talend or was it to eliminate any and all dissent?

I’m glad you see an opportunity to make a lot of money here at Talend, and believe we have the market, product, and comp plans to give everyone a great opportunity. But I’m sorry to see that you have a number of misconceptions that are making you unhappy here at Talend. Let me address them here. First, the rumors you cite of lowering the reviews of people who gave feedback to the external consultant we used for our employee survey are completely false. In fact, we specifically designed the survey to be 100% anonymous, so the consultants are the only people in the world who know who gave what feedback. Second, we’re doing exactly what we discussed at the town hall in relation to the feedback: we’re working with the exec team, with the global sales & CSM leadership, and a couple other specific people around the company where we believe we can have the biggest impact this year with increased collaboration and communication to internal teams and customers. So far I’ve seen and heard very positive feedback about the impact these projects have had. Third, our attrition rate is low, better than the industry average, so with occasional exceptions where we lose good people who I’d rather see stay I’m happy with how that’s going. And finally, there’s no stack ranking used in our review process anywhere. The closest thing we have any place in the company is the sales leaderboard in salesforce.com which shows on a real-time basis where reps rank in terms of new ACV achievement and pipeline build. This is common practice with well managed sales teams (and cheered on by the top reps because they see where they stand). Going forward I encourage you to reach out to your direct manager or the leadership team with any further concerns. I promise you your input will not be detrimental but viewed as positive contribution to helping Talend continue to improve. -- Mike Tuchen, CEO

Pros

Lots of information to learn, and technology to gain experience with. You will be a jack of all trades and experience work within networking, devOps, programming, data science.

Cons

Management is not flexible or understanding towards special circumstance. Management style consists heavily on micromanagement. Management is at times overly critical. Employees have no say in policies that effect their work any voiced opinions or suggestions are never taken into consideration. Lack of career mobility.

Pros

Legacy tool with fair number of inbound leads, a few caring leaders. Other than that honestly nothing.

Cons

Get with the times or be completely left behind. This is a worst in class sales org. Reps aren't hitting anywhere close to quotas, sales ops processes are basically non existent, turnover is high, product is legacy, and there is a general bad attitude and lack of collaboration between departments. The worst experience I have had in my professional career in sales.

Thank you for your review; we appreciate feedback. There are many sites for candidates to research companies and read organic reviews, and we are proud of our company culture. Talend has never asked any of our sales teams to publicly enter their earnings data to show our teams are successful and many overachieving. Markets can sometimes be hard, but we love challenges here at Talend. We are changing the way the world makes decisions, and we are excited about our journey to becoming a best-in-class SaaS company.
