Pros

High salary compared to Malaysian market Strong benefits (medical, insurance, bonus, leave) Very stable job (GLC, low risk of retrenchment) Strong brand name on CV (opens doors elsewhere) Clear structure & governance Good for long‑term career (many stay 10–30 years) Exposure to large‑scale projects (O&G, LNG, energy transition) Good work-life balance in many roles

Cons

Heavy bureaucracy (many approvals, slow decision-making) Slow career progression Internal politics exist (networking matters) Less hands-on work (vendors do much of execution) Hard to stand out due to large organization Change is slow, even for innovation or sustainability Role quality depends heavily on department & boss

Pros

Great benefits, and there are small opportunities where you can start your own side quest or work on something new.

Cons

Very bureaucratic. There's too much process that even doing simple procedures may take weeks or months. Approvals for approvals.

Pros

Good pay in Malaysia with great benefits including medical and leave. Great career path although now due to new revision of assessment might take longer time for promotion

Cons

As it is national oil company, the process sometimes takes too long to make decision. Need to go through many stages which slow down the process. That’s why the company is currently working on optimizing the work process
