Pros

First time in my career that I have felt cared for, appreciated and supported. I work with a great team and our managers' are integral to that culture of 'team'. Work, life balance has been made so much better by the opportunity participate in the 4 day week. I am so happy I made the move to OFG. At this stage in my life, it proves it's never to late to work for an organisation who strive to get it right!

Cons

Remote working from my team and not having in person interactions more often. However, this is not a huge issue in the big scheme of things.

Pros

Great Tas and great teachers

Cons

Senior leadership team and DSL are unapproachable. Don't read Slueths then blame staff for 'missing' things, even though the 'missing' parts are in the slueth. If you say anything against SLT you are at risk of mental health troubles to the point you have to leave (this has happened 3 times since July 2025). I have three concerns about an DSL member however can't raise them out of fear of loosing my job and being shamed. No breaks, lucky to have a 20 minuet break at least once a week. CPD always runs over on a Monday. Tas don't get a say in anything. If you have concerns about SLT or DSL you can't raise them again because of fear. SLT share SLT related information to people who aren't SLT. Say don't be 1:1 with children however we are understaffed and they have no support for us. Don't put children first put what looks best for the school first. In one class they haven't had a teacher for three months so no rest days, no breaks and no praise. They get put down by headteacher when they are trying their best. The school has an extra fully qualified teacher in another class (meaning one class has two teachers, but one is used as a TA, this isn't the teacher's fault) and didn't use them when the teacher left . They say we could talk to the people above SLT and headteacher if we have any issues, however they aren't approachable either and say that we need to talk to the head first. They are all untrustworthy.

Pros

I personally have a good team and generally understanding SLT. My pay is a decent for the market. Wonderful children to work with.

Cons

They push for everyone to complete the “Great Place to Work” survey with silly incentives, but address none of the issues raised once their corporate staff give them praise. 4 day working week is the first thing in all their job adverts yet it has not been implemented in many of the settings, mine included. It is a tough job when working with complex cases and is to be expected, I believe my SLT are doing their best with absolutely no resources or budget being given to them. We often get site visits from OFG corporate management who seem to have no perspective of what we’re dealing with and who slate and change everything we’re doing based on their beliefs rather than rationale or best practice. We are supposed to be therapeutic in our approaches, but the company seems to expect our SEN students to fit into a one size fits all box and it’s only therapeutic when not under the gaze of inspections or management. Regulation first is often preached but not practiced. Clinical staff doing their best but neither clinical nor teaching staff have the capacity to implement a lot of the measures suggested. Many staff not qualified to be working with SEN, but due to shortages are being hired regardless. Staff safety not a priority, injuries treated as a given rather than actively looking for a solution as to why these situations occur.

Pros

Opportunities to work with and support wonderful young people. Great clinical team. Some dedicated teachers and learning mentors. Opportunities within the company (if they liked you). Some lovely members of SLT who cared about the young people and staff. Welcoming office staff.

Cons

Became less child centred over the years Poor pay. Poor work/life balance. Ineffective and unprofessional SLT. Staff wellbeing not prioritised-shop floor staff required clinical supervisions to support with secondary trauma. Very cloak and dagger, no loyalty towards staff that dedicated years supporting the young people and families. Quick to get rid of people whose face don't fit. Inconsistent. Not all shop floor staff were welcoming. Safeguarding concerns not addressed if they raised issues against protected staff. Culture were bullying is ok. Advertise 4 day working week and nobody actually worked 4 days.

Thank you for your review, we agree we’re lucky to have such lovely people in our organisation. Our 4DWW / Reduced Hours initiative has recently been relaunched, with input from colleagues across the organisation to ensure consistency and provide teams with clarity on best practice. It's disappointing to hear that you felt there was some conflict within the team during your time with us. We encourage colleagues to reach out for support if they ever experience this. We have some great examples of how our Education and Clinical teams working effectively together and the amazing outcomes they achieve for our pupils by doing so. Many of our Schools have recently been awarded accreditations, which have been developed based on our clinical Trauma Informed Practice and Ask Accept Develop models, to showcase the brilliant work they achieve together.

Pros

As a TA in a School under one of the OFG arm, Option Autism, I enjoy the friendly team in the workplace. The School Management team are doing great- providing exceptional leadership in the workplace. The OFG Executive shares information on the group; that gives a bigger picture of the organization. It also helps me feel included in the organization.

Cons

I will update this part if I discover any.
