Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid, the high-voltage transmission network linking power generation with towns and cities nationwide. For over 100 years, our people have kept the country running by planning, building, and operating the system that powers Kiwi businesses, communities, and homes.
About the team
Our National Grid Works Delivery team, part of the Grid Delivery division, is responsible for delivering capital projects across the assets that make up New Zealand’s transmission system (the “Grid”). We work together to deliver value for Aotearoa, with a strong focus on safety, quality, timeliness, and system reliability.
About the opportunity
We have an opportunity for an Associate Project Manager to join our team.
Ideally based in Auckland (Hamilton and Christchurch will be considered for exceptional candidates), you’ll support project managers and take ownership of small to medium projects within the National Grid Works portfolio. As your experience grows, so will the scale and complexity of the work you lead.
You’ll be guided by experienced project managers who are invested in your development, helping you build confidence and capability as you step into greater project ownership.
You’ll also build your professional network by working closely with our project teams, collaborating across Grid and Business divisions, and engaging with external contractors and vendors. In this role, you’ll contribute to ensuring project coordination, reporting, and delivery are aligned with business objectives and achieved effectively and on time.
About you
You’re inclusive, self-motivated, and comfortable building relationships in complex environments. Your attention to detail, accuracy, and strong time management are complemented by your ability to plan project activities, schedule resources, and communicate clearly.
If you’re currently in a field-based or project support role and ready to take the next step, this role offers the opportunity to begin managing your own projects. You’ll contribute to the successful delivery of capital works, learn from experienced project managers, and grow your capability in planning, stakeholder engagement, and project execution - all within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
