Take ownership of our core ERP system ACE, as a Progress 4GL Application Developer. This is your chance to modernise legacy tech, drive innovation, and make a difference in how our business operates. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining and evolving this platform, ensuring it remains robust, responsive, and aligned with the needs of our building trade customers and internal stakeholders.

In this role, you’ll do far more than provide support joining a high-impact, collaborative IT team where you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of ACE that powers everything from inventory and pricing to customer transactions and delivery fulfilment across our nationwide branch network.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring proven experience working with Progress/Open Edge or a similar ERP system, along with a strong understanding of how enterprise platforms enable operational efficiency and business continuity.

• Solid grasp of database architecture, system integration, and performance optimisation
• Confident working in a Linux-based environment, with scripting capabilities
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and operational stakeholders
• Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to support development, documentation, or problem-solving
• Industry experience in construction, building materials, or distribution are advantageous
