I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Zalando (Berlin) in Jan 2025
Interview
• First Round: 3-hour Codility test with 3 challenges (2 easy, 1 medium difficulty).
• Second Round: 30-minute HR call.
• Third Round: 1-hour Hiring Manager call, which focused on previous experiences. The manager also took the time to answer all my questions.
• Fourth Round: Three technical interviews (1 hour each):
• System Design interview
• Another Codility interview (medium difficulty)
•General technical interview (focused on the tech stack applied for – iOS, Android, Backend, etc.)
In total, I went through 7.5 hours of interviews. However, despite completing the entire process, Zalando’s HR team completely ignored my follow-up emails. I reached out multiple times to ask for feedback or simply to check if I was still being considered, but I never received a response.
Given this experience, I would not recommend Zalando’s hiring process for software engineers. Their process is structured similarly to FAANG companies—long and intensive—but they fail to provide basic candidate communication afterward. Unfortunately, this seems to be a recurring issue, as seen in multiple other reviews here on Glassdoor and other forums.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention and sharing your honest feedback on your candidate experience. Please be assured that this is not the standard we would like to see at Zalando! We will share your insights with the responsible Talent Acquisition teams and will review our processes internally to improve.

Had a FANG-style interview with three rounds: a live coding session (sliding window problem), a system design interview focused on an e-commerce platform, and a behavioral round. The process was structured and engaging, testing both technical depth and communication skills. Overall, a great learning experience that felt fair and well-balanced.
