      Software Engineer Interview

      15 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TopDevz

      Interview

The whole process came off very strange. A recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. The summary of the message was that they were looking for someone with a particular skill and were wondering if I wanted to connect. I replied and said saying sure but wanted to know a few more details. The recruiter replied saying thank you for your interest, we'll have someone reach out if you're a good fit. This was very confusing as I'm not sure why they'd reach out to me if they didn't think I would be a good fit anyway. The next step I received an email instructing me to click a link and rate myself between 0 and 5 on the particular skills they were looking for. The problem was, the skill section was completely blank. I was instructed not to reply to that email so I just gave myself 5s on the empty specified skills. I reached back out to the recruiter explaining the problem and attached a screenshot of the empty form. The recruiter sent back an thumbs up emoji! The whole process came off as unprofessional.
