I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Scale (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
The process took about 5 weeks but had more than the average number of rounds. I was initially contacted by a staffing agency on LinkedIn. After speaking with them, I had a phone screen with the recruiter, two phone interviews, on-site, follow-up call, and final phone interview. The interview was a mix of behavioral and case interviews. I found the technical / practical part of the interviews very challenging.
After each round, I didn't really get the most constructive feedback on what to improve. I think the recruiter could have taken a more active role in actually coaching me for each subsequent round.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Scale
Interview
Incredibly chaotic process that lasted 4+ months. I would not recommend interviewing here because of how disorganized the process is and the amount of time that was wasted
- Recruiter reached out to me personally asking if I was interested in a role, sent my resume and was rejected before even getting the chance to get on a call
- After getting rejected, an old colleague referred me and the same recruiter reached out asking to interview
- Completed the first round which was a technical case study about optimization before being ghosted. My interviewer talks about how toxic and fear-based Scale can be, and seemed to be actively persuading me not to continue with the process
- 3+ months after being ghosted, the same recruiter reaches back out to me asking I was still interested and he could put me through to the final round
- Completed the final round because I had already gotten pretty far. Simple SQL exercise, and some other case and behavioral interviews that I thought were not difficult
- Surprised to receive a rejection email 24 hours later after the final round and the recruiter offers to provide verbal feedback
- I schedule a call with the recruiter who then cancels it
