I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Paycom in May 2023
Interview
Two rounds, was asked technical and behavioral questions along with resume questions. Pretty easy on the technical side this round was done with a principal engineer. The more behavioral interview was done with a manager afterwards.
Our interview process is designed to give candidates a well-rounded experience through both technical and professional conversations, and we're glad to hear that came through in yours. Thank you for sharing!
Everything was fine. But during the tech part of the interview, I noticed the interviewer was very talkative. So I asked ahead of time if I could have 2 minutes to read and process the question before he offered any guidance. He only gave me about 20 seconds and kept interrupting my train of thought. It felt like a boss was standing over my shoulder talking the whole time. I got turned off by that. I let the time run out and ended the interview. Personally, would not apply again but others might not have the same experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Question about 'what is an abstract class' and some simple SQL questions about joins. Everything was pretty basic.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Paycom in Oct 2024
Interview
I applied in 2024, the process was:
Recruiter phone call -> technical coding interview -> behavioral interview -> offer.
1) Basic HR questions with recruiter, not really an interview
2) 1 hour technical interview, beginner programming questions into easy-medium leetcode question.
3) Behavioral interview with software manager, answers should be in STAR format.
Everyone was nice and receptive throughout the hiring process for me.
Our interview process is designed to give a clear look at both the technical work and how you’d operate day to day. It’s great to hear the team made you feel welcome throughout.
