      Software Engineer Interview

      6 Oct 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Capgemini in Sept 2016

      Interview

The company visited our college during September 2016. The VC of the company himself came and gave us a ppt of the company. He was very generous and answered all our queries. The company decided to take 3 rounds for the interview process and allowed only students of cse, ece, it & mca. The students with more than 1 year gap after class 10 were not allowed and also students who had completed both 12th and diploma were also not allowed. Eligiblity was 60% in 10th & 12th and 6.75 in graduation (till 6th semester) with no backlog. 1. Aptitude of 32 questions & Essay writing 2. TI 3. HR 1. Apti had 30 quantitative questions and 2 logical to be done in 45 minutes. The questions were below graded. A kid of class 7 with knowledge of ratio, profit & loss, interest, time & work/distance, unitary method, basic algebraic equation of two variable could have easily scored 30/30. So naturally everybody answered all the questions. Logicals were also the same. Essay topic was "The most important person in your life" to be typed in 5 mins. Since essay was machine checked so no need to care for language only be cautious about correct typo and grammar and spelling mistakes. But the company policy was unknown till then and they selected only 25 out of the 186 appeared. The selection process in apti was totally vague, confusing and debatable. 2. TI was also very boring. May be the TI panel guy too was unsatisfied to do his job and thus asking questions which were either not related to our stream (for eg. dbms, jquery, os, android development to ece student; analog/digital/satellite communication/embedded systems/wireless technology to cse, it, mca) or in current research undergoing (like 5G) or which had been very primitive in its earlier days of development (for eg. vacuum tube diode). But may be he liked teaching or can be frustrated enough (I couldn't infer which might have been the probably best reason) he cared to answer all his questions himself. 3. HR was no way HR. We were made to stand in stage of the campus auditorium and shout at the top (since no mic was provided) of our voice on " The most funniest incident of your Life" so that people at the back could clearly listen us. After the laborious long day unfortunately no one was selected. PS: They suddenly decided to complete the whole procedure within 1 day so being unprepared we were actually without proper food. We could manage only biscuits, cakes from the canteen which charged extra for no reason. They also didn't bothered to arrange for drinking water even. So be prepared to handle food and water issues. Lastly make sure that you are participating in an interview process but not a mockery by simply taking notice of your Placement officer's behavior (how he/she is scripting his/her day as if sitting at a corner or running about or if the company guys are taking to care a chat with him/her).
