Pros

Free food sometimes if you work late, an opportunity to learn cutting-edge Scala, a candy land for those who enjoy nothing other than work 24/7, regular lunch & learns and demos, MSP coverage and full medical.

Cons

I was hired under the impression that I would be working with very smart, knowledgeable, and efficient people. Instead I found a culture that extolled overwork instead of balance and efficiency. There are countless studies proving how a well-rested balanced employee can run circles around an exhausted and overworked employee. I'm afraid this is just another churn-and-burn shop. TDD is seen as a waste of time especially for large complex projects with critical deliverables. Consequently at this company I saw some of the worst cowboy code I have ever seen in my 25 years of writing code. The most important thing I learned from Visier was how much I value work/life balance and insist on working with others who value the same.

Pros

There are tons of terrific reviews for this company, but when you read them, you come to realize that they are too well formed. This company is good in a few ways: - friendly and knowledgeable peers - bright and open environment - overall positive atmosphere - a very proud company - very good at convincing people that they should devote their lives to work - the product is innovative and has successfully opened a new market for themselves

Cons

Unfortunately, many of the cons would out weight the pros: - consistently overworking their employees (extremely long hours) - employees get spoken to for working too little after working hard for a minimum 9 hour day - flexible hours does not include coming in early and leaving early, it's only for working late - regardless of your level of experience, they expect you to work long hours, including interns and coops - once they had burned you out, you get tossed aside - upper management can be condescending and disrespectful - when employees are burning out and notifies management, instead of solving the problem, they simply reward you with a toy - sudden changes are made to everyday work without first understanding how things are done and how to improve - management does not understand fully how things are done and thus provide wrong time estimates for tasks to executives - culture is work, work, work

Pros

I was astounded to have read the latest review (before this one). I understand where the overwhelmingly positive remarks comes from, which makes me obliged to write something different. - Good at cultivating a work-centric company culture - Very good at making people to work hard for long hours, voluntarily - Great at creating an atmosphere that people feel so proud to work here

Cons

- Some people take their work too seriously and are very intolerant if you've done things against their favor. But they also don't know how to communicate effectively to solve problems nice and smooth. You gotta learn to work with these awkward folks (yes I am avoiding using "jerk") Don't get me wrong, young guys are in general quite nice and friendly. - Constantly pushing and thus constantly overtime. I didn't work in the dev team but they were even worse. So I find the company value very susceptible: People should feel proud because they are sacrificing life to deliver more value to the company? - Not enough respect for rules, procedures and task arrangement/tracking. The management tend to believe that as long as you push them hard, you'll get things done quickly anyway. Good pace is for the giant and we don't want to afford it. - Simply get rid of you when they no longer need your service. No acknowledgement. No private talks. No matter how many nights and weekends you devoted to deliver work. Several ppl were gone this way. Yes it's business, but it's simply not ethical way to do business.
