So many. If you are an experienced worker who has worked for a good company before, you will likely hate it here. The company (more-so the parent investors) take as much advantage of the employees and especially the customers as they can. Most of the really great hires don’t stick around for long. The slick office has a great appearance, but inside things can get toxic on a daily basis. They would brag about amenities like their ping pong tables to the new hires, but last year one of the top sales leaders publicly shamed the sales staff into not using them during work hours. People try so hard to make things better, but senior leadership (all the way to the top spot) will oftentimes stop them dead in their tracks.
Their technology stack internally and externally is laughable at times. Most of the product offerings are antiquated dinosaurs, yet they will tell the customers that they are the best options on the market (most of the times they are not).
The sales leaders were all hired as buddies of their bosses, and have way too long of a leash for error. Some leaders have seen 80%-100% of their teams (of 10 employees) quit or leave their team, without even a slap on the wrist (protected by their friends/bosses). Certain people will perform just as well as others, but will leap positions into promotions that confuse the rest of the staff. Generally due to their questionable relationships with bosses. Sales practices to hit quota are super shady at times, and ethically and morally questionable. But not reprimanded by the sales leaders as long as you hit your numbers.
"Customer satisfaction" seems like an oxymoron. If you are in a customer facing role, brace yourself, it will be very ugly many days. Much of their customer base will tell you that they feel “stuck” with Vertafore, due to slimy contract terms, and constant blind price increases. Good luck hitting your quota when you have customers yelling at you all day and sending you angry emails. The sad part is that most of the customer’s complaints are very justified. Vertafore talks about “doing right by the customer”, but customers and employees will laugh at that as being just lip service (because it is). For a 40 year old company, they don’t even begin to have their stuff together. Most long term employees openly discuss looking for a better job.
Pay is about as low as you can get for the roles. Not competitive at all, especially for Denver now being a tech hub. Benefits are mediocre. Health insurance is pretty basic, and can get costly. Every little thing they do is to maximize profits for Vista/Baine wherever they can, at everyone else expense. The employees see it and know it, and the customers have begun to see it (and complain about it often). Much of the sales leadership needs a major refresh, but this will never happen as they “play the corporate system” too well. They is so much “CYA” at the senior level, that it is often disgusting and discouraging to the rest of the staff.
Again, good people to hang out with, but the company overall feels like a gold-plated turd!
