Pros

You’ll enter Stonebridge as a expert in your field and leave as a jack of all trades, firing staff and passing the workload on to other people is a standard.

Cons

Disgruntled – defined in the Oxford dictionary as ‘angry or dissatisfied’, I’m not a disgruntled ex-employee, I’m an incredibly happy one. Happy to be away from bullying, back stabbing and constant dread. I feel like I have to address the recent 5* post, boasting of Stonebridge’s brilliance and ethos of keeping the learning at the heart of the college. This review, clearly written by the CEO’s head honcho, couldn’t be further from the truth. For Stonebridge students, life is a constant cycle of sending emails and having these emails ignored, making phone calls but having no one at the other end of the line and sending letters which are never ‘received’. Stonebridge withhold refunds from students by deliberately ignoring their emails and letters until the day after their refund period is up. I’d say they do their upmost to deceive students, 50% of courses aren’t accredited, and the ones that are, aren’t recognised by decent employers. They push courses that give students no chance of bettering themselves in the future and it’s openly encouraged in the office to push loans because ‘these students won’t ever reach that salary anyway’. Learners are at the heart of everything? Learners are at the heart of the big wigs wallets. And for employees it’s no better. You’ll arrive to work and be met with unachievable deadlines and emails reminding you just how replicable you are. Redundancies are regular. They’ll tell you how great you are at your job and how secure your role is then proceed to get rid of 90% of the people around you. If you’re really lucky, they’ll tell you how you narrowly missed the redundancies yourself. Don’t be fooled if you’re one of the ‘lucky ones’ that gets to keep their position, your workload just tripled and there’s no one left to help you! Want a meeting with the CEO? He’ll be more than happy to arrange it and then make sure he’s in a different city on the day and his band of merry men will do the same. Want annual leave? Remember to add on an extra months’ notice for the length of time it’ll take them to decide whether you’re allowed it, and don’t even think about booking a doctor’s appointment during the hours of 9am and 5pm, you will come to the office and you will spread those germs (it’s either freezing of 100 degrees so you will be frequently ill). Going home sick is another no no, you’ll be sat at your desk an extra hour while someone in HR decides if you’re actually poorly enough to leave and she’ll dock you a days wages for the pleasure. And heaven forbid a relative dies… Basically, if you want to be paid on time (it’s manual, despite your payslip saying BACS) or indeed correctly, want a day of sick when you can’t leave the toilet, or want to be treated with any form of respect, stop what you’re doing immediately and do not respond to that job ad. Stonebridge will leave you questioning whether you do have the skills that you thought you had and maybe even if you’re in the right industry! Oh and they made their own apprentices redundant, which is possibly illegal… excellent service from an education and training provider!

Pros

The only reason I could see for working or looking for work at this, can't really call it a company or an organisation in the grown up sense. Is that you will suddenly realise that this a place that is underwhelming, incoherent, ignorant, threatening, unsympathetic, corporately incapable. Once you experience this over period of time, all the cons of your previous employment will be a walk in the park. 1. How to succeed Avoid the stand-in "managers" they lack adequate people and HR skills to legally equip them to manage a team. They get told what to do, even if it mean threatening or intimidating staff, it gives the ma lift and a 'Faux' authority. They are really just a mouth piece. So how to succeed do not apply for a job or role or any form of communication. 2. How to do your job to the best of your abilities. Pretend you didn't hear the throw away comment or insult ( this will no marly come from one of three people, that was aimed at you, do not get upset, get up and walk to the door, collect your coat and leave the building...dont look back. 3. How to get a promotion. Wait for someone else to leave, it won't be long, roles although few and far between come up on a regular basis. Don't forget set your alarm clock early so you can't get to work early, don't be late if you are, there are individuals who will happily remind wage you get in, but also conversely work time regulations do not exist as well as a contract, so you won't have any issues of working late, try 10 in the evening that should just about do it. 4. Communicating effectively Do not 'answer back' any disagreement usually ends up with a off schedule visit to one of the empty rooms. You will be treated to a a history lesson in 70's style team management.

Cons

My documented and recorded experience. Firstly I am not a disgruntled ex employee, I am a smart and highly intelligent professional who's morals and professional scum would not allow these individuals to treat me differently to other staff. They offer respectable salaries (not a lie) but this comes with the territory , this explains the turn over of staff in the short time I worked within the business. If you require peace and quiet, and an "informal" "atmosphere", this is the place to go. It's close to the beach, but that's about it, they have several other locations in the UK, but with different business names The unhealthy environment, is stressful to the point of breaking. The so called heads of live in fear of one person. Just be assured you will not get the slightest support if they feel threatened by you, or have no idea what you do. If you like to be insulted, swore at, disenfranchised or made to feel mediocre do not enter this organisation , this happens in front of a whole office of staff, or enjoy the lament and raised insults pouring into your workplace of another victim then avoid. Unrealistic deadlines, and expectations, unwilling to listen to professional and experienced advice, prefers to stamp uncontrolled and unrelenting power to stamp their authority. A Certain individual, is interested ( when you read the other comments on here everyone has shared a momentus experience with this person) in one thing "what they want" your needs as an employee, your employee rights have no place whatsoever in this business. If you get the slightest inclination or you are not sure at interview on your first couple of days 'leave'. No equipment, no plan or strategy, no support, expecting you to use your own personal equipment and software My advice to any poor soul who goes there please heed my advice. Keep a log of all discussions, emails. This may help you if the inevitable happens. I am disappointed in myself for posting this, it is out of pure concern from the environment I have recently parted company with and wouldn't want some poor soul to risk their lively hood, for short term expectations. You may also get confused by how you are paid as the name over the door isn't where your salary is paid from, it could be one of several umbrella company names. No pension No sick leave Confusing employee contracts - in fact no contract Infrastructure and environment poor

Stay away from the disgusting CEO

Pros

Some of the staff are nice

Cons

Do not take people on when you have no intention of keeping them. Left out of work just before the festive period with mortgages to pay etc. CEO should grow some balls and face me and let me down. Not let someone else to do it. I hope you fail.
