Pros

Flexible office hours - work from home or visit retail stores. Decent wage and bonus structure for the grocery industry.

Cons

Fear, Intimidation , Grudge based , nepotism based Leadership ; Lack of or ever changing strategy; low employee engagement; no concept of loyalty towards customers or staff ; inadequate systems giving conflicting financials ; chaotic management - retail vs backstage - unclear and conflicting direction given ; arrogance in opinion; redundant and duplicate processes resulting in excessive overtime hours; too many meetings

Good people, bad systems

Pros

Coworkers can be great, customers on average very nice, hours can be flexible, no one task is particularly difficult and can be learned quickly, if given the opportunity...

Cons

Upper management is a nightmare. They don't seem to know how human beings function, just how Sobeys The Company would prefer human beings functioned, including both staff and customers. 400 audits to ensure safety of us and people eating the food would be great, except they are all clearly exercises meant to diminish us and cause undue stress. Standard operating procedures would make sense, except when you're not allowed to remove cheese from a sandwich at customer request. Scheduling is done with very little concern for availability, is never consistent, and only generated two days before next possible shift.

Pros

Since you work with a lot of big companies in the Food retail industry, you can expand your network work-life balance compensation experience These are the only pros i can see.

Cons

Worst employees, bad attitude, management underqualified, no possibilities of advancement, most employees have been there all their life and only have a high school diploma (some of them like my boss didn't have any degree) and they are very protective of their positions. so when you're young and you're looking for advancement and experience, you're the enemy! Even HR is in on the game so when you think they're helping you, they're actually pushing you towards the door. You get no recognition whatsoever on a job well-done, on the contrary, they blame you for doing more than your job.
