The company prides themselves on being family-first which was a huge draw for me. While I did see some evidence of this for long-tenured employees, my experience was the exact opposite. There is no bereavement policy, and they actually removed the 5 days of sick time that new employees were promised at time of hire because it was being "abused". Take note that all of the positive company reviews are from long-tenured (5+ years) employees.
The CEO has a lot of bizarre unwritten cultural rules and keeps a close watch to make sure they are being followed. The CTO is there to coast into retirement, so rather than backing up his employees, he bends to and enforces all of the CEO's needs ("paying the CEO tax" in his words) as to not make any waves. This creates a very weird, cult-like fear-based engineering culture where everyone pretends to worship the CEO and no one feels comfortable to openly speak their minds.
There are plenty of red flags during the hiring process, even in the offer letter. Pay attention to them.
