Pros

The office has nice furniture.

Cons

Serious, uncomfortable interpersonal issues were reported to management (HR didn't exist) and the response was patronizing and intense gaslighting. If you work do here, don't report HR problems.

First of all, thank you for this. We are troubled you experienced an uncomfortable dynamic and felt leadership’s response was, generously, insufficient. Even though no company can prevent all interpersonal tension, we should expect that leadership’s response ensures the reporting party is heard and valued. Sounds like we fell short in delivering that message here. We are further increasing our investment in the people (and process) at Robin to make certain nobody else leaves feeling the way you do.

Pros

Pay is decent. Overall very nice people. Benefits were good before layoffs.

Cons

Started off great, however, changes in leadership, dropping sales, and a massive layoff did damage to the company and culture. In short, the organization is disorganized and sinking. Despite being a product manager of a team, I had little autonomy over the direction of my team and often had a stack-ranked roadmap handed to me. Often, other teams overlapped and became involved in the same projects I was, causing conflict between teams and shifts in direction that neither team was fully prepared for. Features are regularly shipped and forgotten about, leading to mounting tech debt that constantly gets pushed to the back burner. The company claims to be data-driven, but shifts focus regularly throughout the quarter with little data to back up the changes. Despite going through painstaking efforts to map a quarterly roadmap, it often is thrown aside within a few weeks into the quarter. Overall I loved my coworkers, but leadership continually fails to craft a compelling vision and direction for everyone to run in. Despite being there for over a year, I cannot tell you what Robin wants to be the best at, or who it wants to be the best for.

Pros

Great team environment with immediate team members

Cons

Beware - Prospective employees are attracted to companies like Robin that offer opportunities for growth and development. Unfortunately, Robin does not follow through with delivering these benefits. The sales team was encouraged to use a professional development stipend before the end of the year. Employees were expected to pay for books, mentorship, and sales apps upfront with the expectation that the company would reimburse individuals. We were continuously pressured to use this benefit by management before the end of the year. On January 6th, most of the employees who did use this benefit were laid off and not paid out for the stipend. The CFO forced people to cancel subscriptions to mentorship programs employees were pressured to sign up for 7 days prior. Approval for the reimbursement went through the management team and the HR team prior to the playoffs. I can only speak for myself but mine was approved (as I am sure others were as well). Robin neglected to honor the benefit to people who were laid off because they no longer had to deal with them. The executive team is sneaky and will lie directly to your face. The sales team held a meeting with leadership and asked for transparency after the first round of layoffs. Instead of being truthful, they lied, reassuring the cuts were "deep enough" and there would not need to be another round of layoffs. 6 weeks later, they eliminated an entire department besides two people.

Thanks for your feedback and we're sorry to hear you did not feel you benefited from this program to the fullest. An important part of Robin’s investment in our people is the support and funding of this professional development program. We have and will continue to reimburse all employees for expenses incurred and programs attended during their tenure with the company.
