Pros

Great colleagues. Good coffee and lunch. Nice office with big windows.

Cons

Relesys sells a product promoting employee retention, which is ironic. With their “hire-and-fire” mentality, the turnover is extremely high (check for yourself how many employees have been hired and left again within the past year). Many employees count their time there in months, not years. Knowledge is lost as constant new hires have to start from scratch. There seems to be hostility toward former employees. I my time there, we were explicitly instructed not to communicate with a former colleague, with threats of repercussions for doing so. Relesys presents itself as a fun workplace, offering big responsibilities, and exciting projects with well-known brands. However, once you start, the reality is different. There’s no structure, and priorities change like the wind. There´s no support from management. As a new employee, expect to fend for yourself. The pay is minimal and does not align with the amount of stress that comes with the job. For the first year employees are not offered pension or health insurance.

Challenges with Management Style and Strategy Execution

Pros

- Several great customer stories and use cases - A fully customizable product that matches the needs of the customer - Very strong and competent individuals across the different departments

Cons

One of the major challenges at the company was the high employee turnover rate, which stemmed from the founders' tendency to quickly lose faith in their employees, this, coupled with an unstructured hiring strategy. The company has a micromanagement culture, the founders meticulously scrutinize every detail and decision, hindering employee autonomy and creativity. This excessive micromanagement not only impeded productivity but also impacted the trust between management and employees. Moreover, the founders displayed inconsistency and a lack of commitment to established strategies. They frequently changed directions, causing instability and confusion within the company. As a result, employees felt demotivated and uncertain about their roles and responsibilities, further contributing to a disengaged workforce.

Pros

- Colleagues are great and always happy to help - Good socials IF you are based in Copenhagen - Great, customisable product with multitude of features

Cons

- Please consider how these reviews are from employees/former employees, which are met with copy and pasted, scripted answers - you can expect the same thing internally - Be careful joining as there was a restructure (1 of 4 or 5 previously within a year) which was decided in March, yet they hired people in the following months who were then eventually let go - They talk the talk, but often don't walk the walk - Salary should probably be more for what you do - Take caution as they explain that budget is always good or as expected in QBRs, but numerous individuals who have asked for raises, are always hit with the scapegoat answer of "Budget" (therefore needs to actually be honest with their budget issues) - Entire UK Office folded within a year with several Sales individuals also handing in their notice of recent - ZERO benefits

Relesys Response
2y
We are a scale-up that has just gone through the first year of pursuing rapid growth - and that has definitely been with ups and downs. 2022, and the first two months of 2023, were a period of a lot of failures (or learnings some will call them) which we acknowledge and have learned from. We are sad that this affected our collaboration, and resulted in this comment among several responses from colleagues that were not considered to be part of the coming journey ahead. Being transparent about what was needed to happen to set a stronger GTM has been very clear since March 2023. We have been focused on upscaling in knowledge and finding the right leaders to become better, and welcome colleagues who are specialists in their field as we have been setting up new roles. We have a flat structure in the company, and if anything has been unclear even both founders of the Relesys have always been reachable for a chat if one reached out. Coming from a background of being a bootstrapped company for the first seven years, Relesys has always prioritized being a sustainable and healthy organization, and we are proud to say that we are that thanks to a great finance department, and where following the allocated budget is a reality for keeping the organization healthy. BUT, the proven performance and success of the individual will be met with rewards and benefits. We have several employees who have been in the company for 2, 3, and even 6+ years and have grown from interns to leaders, or part-time to full-time, who are proof of this, and everyone who is looking for more perspective on this is welcome to reach out to current employees on LinkedIn. Relesys supports social events to be arranged by all offices, for breakfast in the office every Wednesday, Friday drinks on the house, official Friday bar once a month (often with a theme), coffee, tea, snacks, Global Summer Party, Christmas Party, team workshops and more. While the Talent (HR team) is only represented in HQ, the other regional offices with 6-12 colleagues, are encouraged to take on a shared responsibility as we are all responsible for building a great culture. But support and encouragement to do so is definitely there. There are always two sides to the same story, and this message was tough to read. But the feedback is considered and taken very seriously. We have come a long way from several of the points made, but we will continue improving and getting better. Hope your next journey will be a success and the right match for you :)
