Pros

Postman is a great product with many enthusiastic and talented engineers and other employees behind it.

Cons

I was very disappointed with the way executives handled our reorganization, firings, and a serious sexual assault allegation at a Postman event. It's understandable that a company of this size needs to go through organizational shifts, and that can be very difficult for everyone involved. However, when management does not stay true to company values, it creates a huge rift. It was unfortunate to see an enthusiastic team get beaten down by uncertainty and poor leadership. Another major issue was that an employee experienced sexual assault at a company event and was not acknowledged by management when this event was reported. The person in question never received any help and ended up quitting because of the unsafe environment. Postman was once wonderful to work for, but in light of my experience, the mismanagement of employees, and the negligent attitude around employee safety, I cannot recommend that anyone should put themself in this unhealthy atmosphere.

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to voice your concerns. We restructured the org with the vision and mission of Postman in mind; most growing startups do this to go to the next level. Our goal is to stay true to our values while we do everything we can to make sure that our employees are safe, happy and productive. That's why we have anonymous employee feedback surveys so that we're aware of the impact of our actions. Regarding the sexual assault allegation: Postman has a zero-tolerance sexual harassment policy. We're committed to protecting employees in every situation, whether it's on our premises or in an event outside it. We have strict policies and mechanisms to address these issues, including a confidentiality policy which means that we keep the course of actions, and the identity of involved people, discreet. The sequence of events laid out in this post is inaccurate and we encourage you to reach out to us if this matter affected you. Warm Regards, Postman Team

Pros

• You can find great people to work with and if you’re lucky a great manager. • Salary is solidly competitive. • if on right team you can have high impact.

Cons

• There is no strategy or direction established by leadership. They spend too much time in the micro day to day details, so don’t plan on having a 3 month to 6 month roadmap. • company is built around toxic favoritism. If you aren’t in the right team with the right manager it’s all downhill. • people ops doesn’t have a clue how to maintain morale or provide meaningful support to employees. • lack of transparency into decision making or general company surveying. You can’t ask real questions during all hands cause they will call you out and pulse surveys aren’t treated with respect. • leaders are way to biased. Postman was first to market in a big way, however it’s more competitive now and growth has slowed. The ceo and his reports don’t get how to move things and obsess around the old times. Often you hear “abhinav likes this” but never why a user would. • no cross org collaboration, everything is very territorial. There is no collab and if the right golden child has interest good luck convincing them to do what’s right for the user. If they don’t agree, you do it their way or leave. • postman has been going through rounds of layoffs for a year. Each time either not saying anything or blaming the impacted teams for the companies failures. This again shows lack of capabilities of leadership and a real lack of ability to be accountable. Avoid this company if you are mid tier or looking to have impact.

Pros

Great product loved by many.

Cons

- Leaders show real lack of experience and immaturity. Knee jerk decisions with little execution. Feels like they are guessing it. - No care for employee well being or diversity whatsoever. DEI is low priority if at all. They hide behind benefits package but no more effort than that. - People worked to the bone. Tight deadlines and micromanagement environment for Engineers. - Constant overpromising from Managers when it comes to pay rises and bonus. Rarely do they follow through. - Leaders suffer from God complex. Often rude and never open to ideas (mainly old timers) - People forced into office 3x per week if they live within 50 miles, no excuses. Most were hired as Remote employees. - No employee pulse checks or anonymous feedback allowed, you must attach your name to feedback. Yet many who constructively criticise leaders are let go quietly. - The place is a dumpster fire. So many people are unhappy and waiting for market to improve before leaving. I used to love it but it’s gone down hill fast.
