Still recovering from PTSD from my time here

Pros

-interesting scope of work -ambitious problem set -smart, motivated people -well funded -there are worse things to drink than kool-aid -better than working at the DMV

Cons

-The leadership that I worked with routinely treated people with such disregard and contempt that, to this day, I'm still trying to learn to stop looking over my shoulder and trying to read into off-hand comments said by the exec teams. -The culture here is one that is defined political by proximity to decision makers; I witnessed people rise and fall in their positioning within the company simply because they disagreed with the exec team. People that didn't play the political games were excluded, talked about behind their backs, and then promptly and cowardly let go, without feedback about performance or even a discussion with the company. It's not an accident that they have gone through a head of people every year for the past 5 years. -When people quit or are let go, the company won't say a word. It's like they've been blacklisted. This is not how emotionally mature companies operate. -Talk about title bloat. Everyone who works here is a global head of, even if they are an IC. -Why is the strike price on options so high and why is the company based out of the cayman islands? -There is absolutely no transparency within the org. Tech companies aspire to be flat, particularly startups. Paxos is built like a very tall, narrow cone. I believe they have as many levels Amazon, despite having 1/100th the employees. Can you imagine having 10 levels within a 150 person company? -Absolutely zero compassion for the world or the people who work at the company. Their approach to DE&I is entirely lip service.

Pros

- Lots of smart amazing people to work with. - Amazing opportunity to learn about blockchain and work on cutting edge tech. - CEO is very passionate about the company and it shows

Cons

- While working there I felt unconfortable that HR would ask us all to write "Good" reviews on glassdoor because I feel like glassdoor reviews should be organic and real but it was used as a marketing effort to paint a pretty picture about the company. Now that i've left the company I feel like i can write a more honest review. - Tech Management will often push to have things done asap and there is a lot of pressure which i guess comes with the startup environment but some managers are able to inspire you to want to do great work here management just yells at you to get things done faster. - High turn over rate

Cons

- High turn over rate because of management. - Extreme Micromanagement - No growth and constantly understaffed due to the high turnover rate. - Very toxic environment for the dev team. - No vision or focus the team is in constant firefighting mode.
