Chaotic Start-Up

Pros

Pros: remote work and there were a few wonderful people on the coordinator side.

Cons

Cons: where to begin…this was the most chaotic, unorganized startup I have ever worked for. The CEO is truly clueless when it comes to “her” company and what everyone does. They laid off a large chunk of their work force and didn’t even make a post about it. What they did do is make LinkedIn post after LinkedIn post of all of the promotions they gave. It was very insensitive. This startup is very disorganized with no direction except to make as much revenue as possible. They’re mission is wonderful but unfortunately it lacks any meaning as the CEO and other founders are in it for the money.

Pros

The ability to work remotely was nice.

Cons

Compensation and benefits are not great depending on your role. There is little to no direction to the point you feel you are chasing down answers from people who aren’t even there. They are over promising clients and then scrambling to hire people to fill contracts without pausing to put thought into what everything will look like. They don’t even have the right type of providers in some cases but just moving forward anyway. You are told something one day and then they come back the next with something completely different which breaks down trust. They have no measurable KPIs for staff and dock bonuses based on random things they can’t back up. When you question something you either hit a brick wall of indifference or you get lips service about following up but then never hear about it again.

Pros

Company is woman founded and led, and full of diverse people from a wide range of backgrounds. Compensation is above average for many roles. The company is remote-first and has a lot of growth opportunities if you're willing to throw work/life balance out the window.

Cons

I've never seen a company disdain its employees like Parallel does. Employee expectations are often unrealistic and very little praise is given to anyone not in management. For many of us, it was always "where are we with this?" or "why haven't you done that?". Micromanagement is rampant. Many senior leaders are rude to line employees and dismissive of feedback. Multiple people have been managed out because they weren't meeting impossible expectations. KPIs are often nonexistent until leaders want to fire someone. Several employees have been "laid off" only to be immediately replaced by others earning much less. The list goes on and on.
