As CEO, I read every review on Glassdoor to understand where we’re doing well, and to find areas for improvement as we scale this business. While we’ve seen some negative reviews from current and past employees, I’ve never been compelled to respond until today.
Over the past year as part of our commitment to Pledge1% and my desire to have a lasting impact on our community our employees have dedicated countless hours to community programs at Hidden Valley Elementary, Girls who Code, Habitat for Humanity, The Second Harvest Food Bank, Women in Leadership and more. All of those programs are intended to address economic mobility and opportunity, and in every case, these were initiatives not mandated by the company but organized and executed by people at this company with passion and compassion for their community.
In addition to our community efforts, we’re committed to diversity at MapAnything with women comprising 30% of our workforce and minorities comprising 27%. From a leadership perspective, 29% of our Senior leaders are women and 19% minorities. Including our CTO, CCO, VP of Client Success, Director of HR, Q&A Manager, and Director of IT Security.
Can we do better? Absolutely, but to suggest we lack diversity is patently untrue.
It’s true that we’ve seen some recent departures in female leadership, but in every case its because they found more important, higher paying jobs outside of this company. While we ideally would never lose an employee, I’m incredibly proud when we see employees parley their experience here, into something bigger and better elsewhere. As a small, but growing software company, we will not always have an appropriate position available when one of our talented employees is ready for career advancement. This is an unfortunate truth of having so many exceptional people work at MapAnything
I thank you for your feedback on career paths and training. Those are areas we’re looking to invest in more in the coming months, with dedicated role-based training and a Learning Management System to help with onboarding and continued development. Much of this will be covered in our kick-off meeting in February. If you are a current employee, you know that I have an open door policy. Please come have a discussion with me at any time.
