How to kill morale in 2 years

Pros

- Many of my peers are smart and dedicated. - Project work is interesting. - Lots of responsibility (see Cons list for what you receive in return for this) - Client-facing role means you make an impact every day - Immediate manager is stellar and constantly goes to bat for my peers and me (see the Cons list for how senior leadership responds to that) - DealCloud product is the industry leader

Cons

- Constantly being given more and more responsibilities despite little change to compensation or title. It took senior management more than 4 months to "define roles" in my segment, only for those roles to be described so loosely that essentially nothing was out of scope for my role. - Top performers are not rewarded with better compensation, just more responsibilities and workload. Oh wait, I forgot - there's the occasional chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card! - Staffing has been a major problem since day one - constant reassurances that "we are hiring more headcount" to address this issue. Spoiler alert: the issue wasn't (and still isn't) addressed, and every high-performer on the team is still working 60+ hours per week. - I never once in my multi-year tenure had an on-time annual review. I never once had an annual review that was less than 45 days late. I never once had the opportunity to negotiate my compensation or demonstrate why my performance has warranted a raise, because my review happens 2 months late and thus "budgets are set". - Senior management is hired externally and has no experience with our product or delivery processes. No internal promotions above the middle management level. - To call diversity an afterthought is probably too generous. There are 700+ employees at this company, but if you click on the "Leadership" page of the website, you will not see one single black executive.

We are disappointed to hear that your time here has not been as positive an experience as we endeavor to create for all of our global team members. You have provided a lot of comments, many of which should be addressed with your team leader but it sounds like this did not occur. If you could reach out to me directly and provide some additional insights, we can ensure that there is more follow up and I can also address some of your other concerns more directly. Thank you.

Great place to work

Pros

Very nice people, great friendly culture. The average age is higher at Intapp than at a typical Silicon Valley software company, which makes it a more pleasant place for 40-somethings, and there's no ageism in hiring. Solid executive team and CEO, and a very solid business. They are strong and steady as a company.

Cons

Operationally still struggling at times, despite improvements in recent years.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and I agree, we do have great people here! And yes, through all of our growth over the last few years we still have some operational challenges, but we are absolutely investing in operational systems and people across the organization to help drive further improvements.

Good company. One major downfall.

Pros

Good company with a lot of potential. Fantastic opportunities for those with the energy to pursue them and the tenacity to break through the ciloes. The executive team is smart and has an extrodinary vision (but it tends to be a boys club - see cons). Overall good work life balance (if you enforce it!), smart people to collaborate with and exposure to a fast paced tech environment.

Cons

All that said, there is a major drawback. There are very few women in leadership positions and even less beyond the Sr. Director level. It’s difficult to get your voice heard as a female in some crowds at Intapp. Additionally, there is no actual maternity leave (other than short term disability which comes to 5 weeks at 2/3 pay. Beyond embarrassing when looking around the Valley at other tech companies. Even Midwest tech companies are more progressive in this areana!). While they have made steps forward to support moms in the workplace (like a mother’s room), the lack of policy to support women and visibility at the leadership level is disheartening. It’s hard to feel valued in a place you aren’t supported. It really doesn’t send a stellar message to females nor help to attract and retain female talent. From the inside it seems like the company struggles to scale and attract/retain the right talent. A large portion of this, I believe is because of not just the normal issues a company goes through as it grows exponentially but also because of the antiquated policies that keep groups ciloed and forces women aside if they choose to take time for their families.

Thank you for your very thoughtful review. We appreciate the feedback that we hear from our employees through our internal and external systems. We strive to hire the best talent for every role in the company and I am personally disappointed to hear that you don't feel that your voice can be heard. Since it says that you are a current employee, I would welcome the opportunity of discussing this with you further so please reach out to me directly. Additionally, the HR team spends considerable time and effort in order to bring comprehensive and market competitive benefits to our team members globally. We appreciate your comments around paid maternity leave and it is definitely something we are actively looking into.
