Pros

If Ignite is buying out your company, it's slightly better than simply going out of business. At least for the customers.

Cons

There will be no new investment in technology or product functionality. Their entire business model is to make money on support. They may add some new features for the top handful of customers, and provide the new features in a newly named "product" so that they can double the cost of support. Ignite owns something like 40 software companies, acquired (AFAIK) when the company was about to go out of business. After acquisition they generally lay-off 80% of the employees. All engineering work is done by one group (for all 40 software companies), mostly offshored at low hourly rates. All employees must run monitoring software on their laptops that tracks their hours worked, takes screenshots of the desktop and face shots from the camera every 10 minutes, captures all websites visited, emails sent, and files touched. They have no HQ, no sales, no marketing aside from a few web pages, no IT department. All systems are cloud based services and employees must purchase and manage their own laptops.

High Stress

Pros

You can work remote? They make it seem far greater than it turns out to be. You'll be required to provide your own equipment and install their spyware platform that tracks keypresses, takes screenshots, and even uses your webcam to take photos of you. Management also reads through any logs and conversations that you may have. Nothing is private and it is incredibly stressful.

Cons

Everything. Ignite basically buys up enterprise software companies and guts them. Any roles that pay a decent salary are immediately offshored. If you're upper-level management you can fully expect to be forced out despite all their promises. If you are one of the people that were kept on, you're expected to spend your time training your replacements. Ignite will eventually cut your benefits and salary all the while handing your more work and training to eventually force you out as well. There's a reason why the company's they purchase have incredibly poor onboarding and turnover rates. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt and instead save yourself the massive amount of stress and jump ship like everyone else.

Buy company in duress, ship jobs to India, repeat

Pros

Not sure what to say here. The 100% remote workforce idea is neat in theory, but the spyware they force you to install that short changes you on hours logged negates anything positive there.

Cons

Ignite basically buys up enterprise software companies, chops them up, picks out the most profitable elements, closes the office to save money, then shuts down or offshores everything else. In my case, they cancelled all product R&D, laid off the entire engineering team, and shipped all the jobs to India and Russia. They try to keep a certain number of people onboard for 60-90 days to train your replacements, which is seriously degrading work. Some employees were offered "permanent" positions, but likely most of those people will be gone soon through attrition. Ignite is 100% remote (they close your office when they buy you out), but they force you to install this spyware tool in order to log hours which is seriously invasive. It tracks keystrokes and mouse clicks, takes screenshots, and even takes webcam pics by default.
