- Shady management; lots of rules but rarely followed by upper management.
- No friendliness between stores. We were often pitted against each other and the Regional Manager would complain over phone calls about other stores to each other.
- Bullying culture and not inclusive in the slightest. Manager shouted at staff numerous times and made wild accusations about staff members to others (caught out in an accidental email as well as word of mouth)
- Ridiculous period of notice for time off and frequently refused out of spite by Regional manager.
- Absolutely no health and safety standards, no care for staff well-being or mental health, no mention of EAP service.
- Constant discrimination towards staff and customers; racist, ageist and body shaming comments and micro-aggressions in front of staff or behind their backs.
- Inconsistent clothing sizes, clothing isn’t as well constructed as the company suggests and is overpriced.
- Shared wardrobe and strict uniform guidelines. Being forced to wear something you weren’t comfortable in, that didn’t fit or suit you.
- Staff discount felt worthless when all clothes end up being discounted up to 60% within a few months.
- Not as ethical as they appear to be. Gorman has taken credit for other artists work without acknowledging them. Indigenous, POC and young artists are taken advantage of and not paid; disguised as “competitions”.
- Upper management constantly watched the cameras in store and had no trust in their staff.
- Dated technology, putting more unnecessary pressure on staff.
And to end all this, if you don’t make sales your managers don’t give you the space to explain or improve, you’re made to feel it’s completely your own fault.
Don’t recommend as a worker or consumer.
