Pros

An awesome department with a highly collaborative environment and supportive faculty. There are several events a year to help bring a full department together, foster community, and scientific collaborations. Faculty and student groups also do a good job at bringing a variety of industry networking and career development opportunities to the department.

Cons

Honestly, not many cons I can think of. The department honestly tries to increase grad student salary annually (and was successful in it every year I've been in the program so far), but with the current budget cuts, they can not offer it this year. Hopefully, this trend will be restored once the scientific funding situation improves.
