Pros

I really enjoy Float's high trust, high autonomy work environment. In my role I'm drawn to the problems and challenges that our customers face and I genuinely feel like I can make a difference and help, and have impact through my work. Perks and benefits: - Fully remote company - Monthly health & wellness allowance - so important in this day and age! - Monthly co-working space allowance - Annual meet-up - Competitive salary based on 95% of the median SF salary regardless of where in the world you work and transparency around benchmarking salaries and performance reviews. Good processes in place.

Cons

Working fully remote async has been a personal adjustment (not on Float) given the nature of my role, so finding my 'people hit' elsewhere is something I'd recommend if you're new to or are considering a fully remote role.

Thank you for sharing your insights about remote async work and how it can take some adjustments. It's definitely something we try to support through our 3-month onboarding period to set everyone up for success. And so awesome to hear that you are finding your IRL 'people hit'! So important.

Pros

Float has been one of the best organizations I've worked for in the SaaS space. The org sets clear expectations for roles and doesn't shift the goal posts. Compensation is fair, and everyone on the team acts like an adult. The product delivers on its marketing promises, and is being developed with a clear vision of desired outcome that isn't beholden to a few golden goose clients. Float uses its own product as intended with an internal use case, which hasn't been the case at every tech company I've worked for--I believe this shows a level of self-trust that is important for employers to have. The workplace culture is accommodating of new work norms that come with remote-first family concerns and doesn't penalize employees for stepping away for a bit to deal with children, pets, or ailing relatives.

Cons

The biggest downside is also one of the pros, that management has a fairly hands-off approach. Work is very self-directed, with minimal meetings (there are still metrics to be achieved and OKR follow-ups). Employees and contractors need to be self-disciplined to make sure they are keeping up on what is needed without constant supervision, but this can also sometimes create a need for them to be extra proactive in following up with management about questions they have.

Thanks for this feedback! We appreciate the note about folks being proactive with managers when it comes to getting answers to questions they may have. The nature of async work does require a shift in behaviour when it comes to how we work and you articulated that really well in your feedback (e.g trust, flexibility, self-discipline). Great information for us to continuously improve!
