Burnout Culture

Pros

- Free in office lunches - Office equipment comp - Cool company swag

Cons

- Long hours and burnout culture. - Negative executive leaders. (The COO is one of the most negative people I've ever worked for.) - Quiet mass layoffs. - Extremely political (Be prepared to be cut-throat here.) - Chaotic fire drills and false alarms. If one is fortunate enough to find themselves under the guidance of an exceptional leader, one should consider themselves lucky. However, a majority of employees, including myself, have had less than ideal experience in this category. The lack of effective leadership has led to a multitude of issues that have negatively impacted employee morale. Another major issue was the prevalent culture of long hours and burnout. The expectations for working extended hours without proper recognition or compensation created an environment of exhaustion and diminished work-life balance. The executive leadership team, particularly the Chief Operating Officer, exhibited an alarming level of negativity. Their pessimistic attitude permeated throughout the organization, influencing the overall atmosphere and contributing to a sense of demoralization among employees. A leader should inspire, motivate, and foster a positive work environment, but unfortunately, this was not the case. Employees were forced to navigate through an intricate web of office politics, diverting their attention from productive work and hindering career growth opportunities. Speaking of career growth, it became apparent that promotions were not easily attainable. Urgent tasks or priorities would often arise abruptly without proper planning or organization, leading to unnecessary stress and a reactionary work environment.

Pros

You work with some really awesome people outside of the C Suite

Cons

C-Suite will lie to your face, treat you as a commodity, and toss you aside weeks before vesting your shares.

Pros

- Office with a great view - Well funded

Cons

- Senior leadership continued to ignore documented evidence of bullying and threatening by C-level to employes. This has lead to a toxic work environment and reinforced a culture of fear and anxiety. - Figure doesn't value their employees. Many people just randomly disappear from the company without any explanation, so many people are constantly worried about their jobs. Figure claims that they conduct an employee engagement survey because they care about their employees' voices, but they just highlight the compliments and ignore all of the negative feedback. It’s not surprising that Figure doesn’t even have an exit interview, because they don't actually care about their employees' opinion. Figure just fires all the people that disagree with them, so they are left with a high engagement score, but that score itself has self-selection bias. - Figure heavily monitors their employees' personal online presence. They coerced us to update our LinkedIn and to promote Figure. Employees that make any comment that isn't perceived as a positive endorsement (on any social network) are questioned. That's why everything online about Figure is so glowingly positively and should be a red flag. - C-level lacks industry experience. They run it like an old and dated bank, not like a true fin-tech. They promote themselves as AI- and data-driven, but they don't truly value data nor are they bringing in people who are knowledgable about ML/AI and how to actually apply it to fin-tech - Despite the unlimited PTO policy, actually attempting to use it is discouraged and at best begrudgingly allowed.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are disappointed to read you haven't had a better experience. We take every review (good or bad) seriously and try to scale what is positive and address issues immediately. We use our employee surveys, which indicate a high degree of satisfaction and would recommend Figure as a great place to work, as a benchmark of how we're operating. If an employee feels we aren't holding ourselves to that high standard, we encourage them to talk with their Managers or People Operations to address concerns. Your feedback suggests we can do a better job communicating how our flexible PTO and quarterly bonus work, which we will prioritize during an upcoming All Hands. We appreciate you sharing your feedback.
