Pros

Office: A lot of space, which is quite the opposite of companies that try to save every inch and force people to work in cramped environments. There are four computer screens—something I’ve never seen before, and I liked it. Electric height-adjustable desks, which I take for granted. Phone booths for private conversations, a great kitchen with fully stocked fridges, cold beer, pet-friendly environment, etc. Location: A quiet suburb with spacious parking and a quick commute for those who live nearby. Work: A startup-like atmosphere with opportunities to wear many hats and tackle interesting, challenging technical problems. It’s definitely not a boring place and offers potential for professional growth. You can choose to work in-office, hybrid, or remote. Positive and friendly people, supportive mentoring. A positive attitude toward mistakes (because people learn from them) is one of the best qualities here.

Cons

A spoiled part of me complains that it’s only three free lunches a week, and occasionally, they run out of beer. The compensation is competitive, though not exceptional.

Pros

When I started, it was such a highlight to work at a company with free snacks and drinks, unlimited PTO, flat management, freedom to make mistakes, and free lunches a few times a week. My manager (even though it was "flat management"?) approached ME about raises and promotions. I got to learn a lot and try new things. Everyone I worked with was great. Really good insurance. I thought I had hit the jackpot.

Cons

It was still a bit start up-y when I started and honestly I was blinded by all the goodies. As time went on, it became extremely dysfunctional (or maybe I finally took off the rose-colored glasses) and kept trying to function as a start up even though it had tripled in size. It became apparent there was no direction and that leadership was grasping at AI straws to plug the holes in the boat. The pandemic hit harder than they let on as well I believe and the company has done multiple rounds of layoffs since then, even though they keep touting their amazing products and business success. Also, they wanted to hire someone with more experience for the job that I had taken on because the company had grown out of my scope of experience but hired someone WITHOUT EVEN HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH ME, and then I WAS THE ONE who had to approach my manager and tell them what I wanted to do on the team now. Absolute GARBAGE. Then, I killed it at the new position and helped the company acquire and retain a bunch of important clients, was a senior member on my team and had tons of experience in the company, and was laid off in ONE of the 2023 lay offs while other people on the team who had joined more recently and doing seriously only god knows what kind of work anyway were kept; it was not clear to anyone on the team what some of these team members were really doing, but they were eager minions to the manager and company, so I can imagine they were kept because they live and breathe Ezoic. I guess loyalty and the years I gave to the company only goes so far, so here is my return on that "loyalty"—I would happily see this company crash and burn (after my remaining friends find other jobs) and I think it's on its way. From what I've seen recently, they laid off their entire HR team. There were allegations against C-suite members that were never investigated or taken seriously almost certainly because they were C-suite. Disclosure of private information about certain employees to other employees as a means of trying to get them let go but no repercussions. C-suite is invincible even though they are 95% the problem. While my manager initiated raises, I now know they were not nearly enough considering all I was doing for the company and the market value for my experience and skill. My manager was a narcissist that hid behind saying they wanted our ideas and input but then went off on these crazy rabbit trails that never accomplished anything and would pivot so quickly before an initiative had the time to see fruition. If you look online at any of their forums or on reddit, you'll see that instead of admitting mistakes or having good customer service to try to fix something, they gaslight them and tell them why they're wrong and why the company is the best. I honestly don't even know if half the things I spouted at customers or potentials was even real or just company propaganda. There is a reason you'll see former customers tear the company apart online. I think it was a good start up that got out of hand and instead of admitting mistakes and trying to keep on a truthful and distinct path, the company is all over the place, trying to provide gimmicky AI "solutions" when in all reality, AI has way surpassed them. Instead of improving what they currently have, they're constantly trying to add new features and create the next "big thing," but it just means they have a bunch of mediocre products that have bugs all of the time and the engineers are constantly trying to repair while simultaneously additions are being added. Additionally, I struggled to find work after I got laid off for half a year because what even were my roles? I could go on and on about the dysfunction of this company but I will leave it at this—they will try to sway you with the start-up culture and their inventiveness, but the company is struggling and I don't see it ending well. The reviews on here are all spot-on. Good riddance!

Pros

- Lunches 3 days a week - Hybrid work

Cons

Read the writing on the wall. You’re on a sinking ship that has taken to shortcuts at the cost of their long term reputation and client retention. Management will be the end of this company. Dwayne has made a series of bad decisions ranging from multiple rounds of layoffs, questionable business practices, actively having relations with a subordinate, and failing to acknowledge that Ezoic’s core product has now earned a participation trophy in the landscape of solutions. The new business strategy is to hope one of these other poor product offerings turns into a SAAS business before the cash dries up. The people who kiss Dwayne's you know what and herald Ezoic as the best have made it to management positions within the company. While not surprising, it has created a fear-based culture that has become unreceptive to feedback. Management is so terrified of any sort of pushback from Dwayne they will echo his out of touch sentiment to their subordinates to earn his approval. It’s easier to do that, when you have never worked at another company before. When performance slumps, management doubles down on micromanagement and gaslighting their people as lazy even though they take twice as much PTO then individual contributors. It's because they possess no business acumen on how to analyze results, identify where sales are being lost, and develop a strategy to produce better outcomes. They spend almost every meeting focused on influencing perception about the product, company outlook, and compensation. There would be no need to focus on perception, if the truth said otherwise. If there was one word to describe management at Ezoic it would be ignorance. If they are in business a year from now, I will be sincerely surprised. Get out while you can.

Pros

I got to work with some really great people I enjoyed getting to know outside of work! Lots of flexibility/freedom with taking time off, working hours, working hybrid, etc. Getting lunch on office days was pretty cool too.

Cons

Company continues to hire when they've never been profitable and have gone through several rounds of layoffs. Leadership spreads lies about the ad industry, the state of the economy, the state of the business, and where our technology ranks next to our competitors. Company continues to pump out new tech and features that don't work, while never fixing what's already broken. Working in CS here is like being in a constant state of putting out fires and making excuses for why our tech doesn't perform. Company has no sense of clear direction and is constantly pivoting instead of focusing on leading one market segment. It's a mess and goes against anything you've been taught in school about business. Titles are completely made up and mean nothing in the real world, which is why you'll see people here with 3 years of work experience working as "managers" or "directors."

Pros

- some opportunities for advancement - gained a lot of experience quickly - startup perks like free food & good benefits - nice people in office

Cons

- completely disorganized - sexist tech bro culture - priorities constantly changing & goalposts always moving - product is NOT GOOD but leadership blames everything except the actual product. Makes it very hard to believe in it & actually do your job - leadership is TERRIBLE. Toxic and disorganized. Pick favorites constantly. Downright rude and unprofessional in their interactions with many individuals - turbulent & not set up well to weather the storm. Layoffs all the time, one as big as 30% of the company.

Pros

-Lots of intelligent, hard working, awesome people from diverse backgrounds -Good office perks, lunch 3x a week, gym on site etc -interesting space with complex product, a lot of opportunity to learn, although unfortunately seems to be a dying market

Cons

I cannot in good faith recommend Ezoic to any candidates who are considering joining at this point. There was a time when Ezoic was a very exciting place to be, but unfortunately due to an evolving market, volatility with ad rates, and poor leadership - the last few years have been brutal. 3 rounds of layoffs in the last 1.5 years, although employees were being laid off in between each of those, which seemed like an attempt on management's part to sweep under the rug hoping no one would notice. Ezoic has existed for around 13 years but for what I assume is a multitude of factors never grew beyond a "startup." After drastically inflating headcount in the summer of 2022 and then conducting a series layoffs starting that winter, the company has now shrank in headcount to half of what it was 3-4 years ago. From its inception there have been 2-3 pivots in their core offering - at a certain point you have to wonder why the original product offering was not enough to lead the company to IPO or at least consistent profitability. Not sure what the future holds for Ezoic at this point, but if you are a driven individual with goals of growth and financial leveling up to reflect your hard work, this is not the place for you.
