It was still a bit start up-y when I started and honestly I was blinded by all the goodies. As time went on, it became extremely dysfunctional (or maybe I finally took off the rose-colored glasses) and kept trying to function as a start up even though it had tripled in size. It became apparent there was no direction and that leadership was grasping at AI straws to plug the holes in the boat.
The pandemic hit harder than they let on as well I believe and the company has done multiple rounds of layoffs since then, even though they keep touting their amazing products and business success. Also, they wanted to hire someone with more experience for the job that I had taken on because the company had grown out of my scope of experience but hired someone WITHOUT EVEN HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH ME, and then I WAS THE ONE who had to approach my manager and tell them what I wanted to do on the team now. Absolute GARBAGE. Then, I killed it at the new position and helped the company acquire and retain a bunch of important clients, was a senior member on my team and had tons of experience in the company, and was laid off in ONE of the 2023 lay offs while other people on the team who had joined more recently and doing seriously only god knows what kind of work anyway were kept; it was not clear to anyone on the team what some of these team members were really doing, but they were eager minions to the manager and company, so I can imagine they were kept because they live and breathe Ezoic.
I guess loyalty and the years I gave to the company only goes so far, so here is my return on that "loyalty"—I would happily see this company crash and burn (after my remaining friends find other jobs) and I think it's on its way. From what I've seen recently, they laid off their entire HR team. There were allegations against C-suite members that were never investigated or taken seriously almost certainly because they were C-suite. Disclosure of private information about certain employees to other employees as a means of trying to get them let go but no repercussions. C-suite is invincible even though they are 95% the problem. While my manager initiated raises, I now know they were not nearly enough considering all I was doing for the company and the market value for my experience and skill. My manager was a narcissist that hid behind saying they wanted our ideas and input but then went off on these crazy rabbit trails that never accomplished anything and would pivot so quickly before an initiative had the time to see fruition.
If you look online at any of their forums or on reddit, you'll see that instead of admitting mistakes or having good customer service to try to fix something, they gaslight them and tell them why they're wrong and why the company is the best. I honestly don't even know if half the things I spouted at customers or potentials was even real or just company propaganda. There is a reason you'll see former customers tear the company apart online.
I think it was a good start up that got out of hand and instead of admitting mistakes and trying to keep on a truthful and distinct path, the company is all over the place, trying to provide gimmicky AI "solutions" when in all reality, AI has way surpassed them. Instead of improving what they currently have, they're constantly trying to add new features and create the next "big thing," but it just means they have a bunch of mediocre products that have bugs all of the time and the engineers are constantly trying to repair while simultaneously additions are being added. Additionally, I struggled to find work after I got laid off for half a year because what even were my roles?
I could go on and on about the dysfunction of this company but I will leave it at this—they will try to sway you with the start-up culture and their inventiveness, but the company is struggling and I don't see it ending well. The reviews on here are all spot-on. Good riddance!
