Pros
- great projects to build up portfolio of wayfinding / environmental graphic design work - cool and talented coworkers
Cons
- irrelevant, checked out owners who treat the place as a cash cow - young designers are hired with inadequate experience and are thrown into the deep end with little to no help/mentorship which leads to very high turnover - no one is interested in new ideas, just doing the same old same old - creative directors basically run the operation and are more like glorified project managers - you will be expected to work lots of overtime and not get compensated for it - no one here seems to be able to manage client expectations and you the designer will pay the price with long hours - proposals are written with unrealistic timelines and budgets. Again you the designer will pay the price with unpaid overtime - no one here cares if you stay or go - there are a lot of great design firms in NYC where you won’t get taken advantage of - do yourself a favor, before taking a job there, reach out to former employees on Linkedin.
