Pros
Professional Development We work relatively short cases (c. 2months) across a range of sectors and capabilities, which helps us build a broad base of professional experience. Likewise, our 6-month promotion cycles incentivise us to work hard whilst providing an opportunity for talented individuals to rise rapidly through the firm. There is a path from Entry-Level Associate Consultant to Manager in 4 years and 3 months. People and Lifestyle The hours can be long, but I feel as though we work fewer hours than our competitors. Management makes it a priority to track our hours and "manage them down" where possible. But when we do work late or travel on international projects, the people make the environment much more enjoyable - my colleagues are almost universally smart, sociable and willing to help. There is also a growing appreciation for physical and mental wellbeing, with internal committees and organised activities encouraging us to be healthier.
Cons
Allocations Although we have excellent visibility of projects in the pipeline, the allocation process itself is not very transparent. Some ACs have become disgruntled by repeated allocations to similar projects within a short time period. Consensus ( General review/promotion process) Although 6-month promotion cycles are great, they are also a primary cause of stress within the firm
