The problem is that the new leader is using the management tools of the first industrial revolution, while we are entering the fourth industrial revolution. The result has been the best people running for the door to greener pastures. Cliches abound, and it’s all so transparent and hollow. Word repetition does not equal culture. The top-down hard approach to comms, decisions, restructures, is tone deaf. Flexibility and working from home? Forget it. You’ll be asked to get into your chair, smile, and nod politely even if there is an apocalypse occurring outside. All the while customers pay the price. Staffing is down (so are the costs I guess- is that an achievement?) but ultimately we provide slower or no service to our clients. But let’s blame it on the people who left. How dare they seek better opportunities, aren’t we in the UK?
