People fake number or let's call it massage numbers to paint a good picture, while failing at overall metrics and nobody questions that. People take customers for ride with bogus campaign ideas that cost the customer but delivers no real value. This they do by showing correlation between sale and something, which actually is not a causal relationship. Customers fall for it and spend money hoping to get performance sales, and get sub par results. Have seen FMCG behemoths making this mistake due to FOMO, which many teams have weaponised to get growth.
