Pros
There are some some great people and some great teams. I'm currently on a great team, with people I really enjoy working with. I've learned and grown a lot. There's a lot of stuff to learn. For example, if you want to learn how to do ops at scale Amazon is a great place to learn. The same with being customer focused.
Cons
Current senior management are alienating employees left and right. They don't know how to communicate top down properly. The last several major policy changes were very employee-hostile, today's 5 day/week RTO included. There is no recourse. No way to complain. All you get back is silence or "disagree and commit'. Even done well, at Amazon's scale ops can burn you and your team out. Tech-debt is an ever present problem. The older the service the worse the tech-debt, and the higher the ops load.
