Pros

When you are healthy & capable to work 60 hours a week, they will absolutely let you work overtime. Talk to your managers. Train in multiple positions & departments wherever possible. They offer to help pay for school, go ahead and try to succeed with college classes when they implement mandatory overtime whenever they want. It used to only be peak & prime but now they have prime day in October or whenever they want. If you are young healthy & energetic you might be able to make this work for you. Be forewarned, they only cover certain programs at certain schools & sometimes they reimburse you after you pay the school. If you have no real life responsibilities & want to get paid to work out then this job might be for you. You won't have time or energy to hit the gym after work but you will get your steps in & more working here. If you want a promotion make sure you speak & write English well, make friends in high places, look good, & can work 12 hour days while skipping breaks, instead of the normal 10.5hrs. Get promoted up to management & get put on salary. This means that during peak & mandatory OT times you will be making less per hour than what you made previously. Average the math over a whole year & are you really making what they say you get for your promotion? If you're willing to move you can hold out for a signing bonus to go open up a new facility in the middle of some other state. This works out well leaving everything & everyone that you know because you will throw yourself into your work & have no need for work life balance. Start young & healthy & take full advantage of all that they offer. Work hard & climb the ladder as fast as you can, both inside & outside with the education assistance. Understand that you are just a body to them & at some point being employed by them ceases to be mutually beneficial.

Cons

Once you develop chronic health conditions from living the Amazon lifestyle for years, they will make it impossible for you to get accommodations so that you can keep working and keep your job, They will keep you jumping through hoops for months trying to get what you need. Then they will illegally fire you and offer you a fake appeals hearing where they vote in your favor, then they will fire you anyway! If you have children, you better have a team of people ready and willing to help with your kids non stop because Amazon doesn't care about work life balance. 4 days on 3 days off sounds great until you spend your first day off recovering from working 10.5 hour days, and trying to reset for the coming work week. If you don't have a partner to make dinner for you, do household chores, and help with the kids then you better be super human and not need a social life. They offer to help pay for school, but go ahead and try to succeed with college classes when they implement mandatory overtime whenever they feel like it. It used to only be peak and prime but now they have prime day in October or whenever they want! Have to attend your grandma's birthday party? Too bad, we decided that you have to work that day and didn't bother to tell you until right before, even though in previous years there were no black out dates during that time frame. Hope you have enough UPT, PTO, or Vacation saved up even though you needed to use it for c0vid or for your kids or god forbid your own medical appointments. It is cheaper for Amazon to have a rotating door of employees and keep bringing in new people and get rid of the ones that have stuck it out long enough to max out on raises and utilize the 401k matching benefits. They tell you that there is 24 hours in a day because if they told you that there is only 12 then you would never give them 11 of your hours!

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
