You get Amazon on your resume - people know what this company turns you into. You have to survive the Amazon culture, which is HEAVY on politics and bureaucracy with some occasional technical work sprinkled in. You may think that Amazon spends heavily on talent and their products, but the opposite is true. Heavy workloads will fall to very few and the cutthroat stack ranking with mandatory year end PIP termination pits team members against each other. The Enterprise Engineering group should be avoided at all costs. The managers do not have technical know-how, do not listen, do not communicate, and are purely focused on their own upward mobility. The EE org is rapidly shifting away from technical delivery into the direction of crafting well presented documents about success, with less and less of that to actually fill said documents. Senior leaders lack vision and avoid decision making whenever possible. For actual technical talent, your work life balance will be absolutely miserable, you won't have prospects to advance, and you will not be paid adequately for the workload.
