As an employee who initially felt proud to work here, I’m deeply disappointed by the recent decision to shift from the current hybrid model (2 days in the office, 3 days from home) to 4 days in the office and only 1 day from home. Last year, our CEO publicly stated that he had considered changing the hybrid policy but decided against it after speaking with employees and expressing trust in our ability to perform remotely. The business is thriving, and productivity metrics clearly support that the current model works. This reversal feels like a breach of trust.
The new policy disproportionately impacts women and minorities, who often shoulder the burden of caregiving responsibilities or face longer commutes due to systemic socioeconomic factors. It feels like the company is ignoring the very real challenges many employees face and dismissing the progress we’ve made in creating an equitable and flexible work environment.
This decision undermines the company’s claims of valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Flexibility is a crucial factor in retaining talent, especially for underrepresented groups. By taking this away, the company risks losing the diverse perspectives and contributions that have driven its success.
The lack of transparency and disregard for employee feedback have made it harder to feel pride in working here. Leadership should reflect on this decision and consider whether it aligns with their stated values and commitment to employee well-being. Trust is easy to lose and hard to rebuild.
