Pros

At this point, nothing positive in this company. Even all the social events are just ridiculous, like they will solve actual day to day problems.

Cons

1. The unlimited vacation days are fake. In reality everyone is subjectively approved for 22 to 25 days. False advertisement. 2. Sales team keeps signing new clients and promise them unrealistic expectations. There are not enough employees to do the work, so quality of delivery is absolutely ghastly, to say the least. 3. High turnover rates, especially with skilled/key people. But yeah, Allvue will rather hire 10 new people with super high pay to replace that 1 key person, who could have done all 10 new people’s work with just a little more compensations and compassion. Absolutely idiotic. They constantly boasted the amount of new hires they have gotten, but never face the harsh truth of the good people that have left the company. 4. Salary is low for existing employees. Instead of raising existing employees’ salaries, Allvue keeps hiring useless newhires with high pay, and all only knows how to talk but can’t walk the walk. Allvue also keeps hiring higher management, who don’t understand the work, don’t even remotely try to understand from actual employees doing the work (only talk to other high management who equally is useless), but keeps messing up processes and projects. 5. Morale is super low, and have seen employees quitting due to mental health stress. Who cares about social event, as day to day work with these higher management are shitshows. Social events do not mean that stress has been solved. 6. Higher management doesn’t care with whatever feedbacks, no matter what they claim.

Constant Mess

Pros

Flexible work schedule. Unlimited PTO.

Cons

Still dealing with so much unnecessary “corporate” rules since Black Mountain Systems merged with AltaReturn to form Allvue, The original company (BMS) was such a joy to work at. Now everything is political and business models for each department change weekly and most employees have no idea what’s going on. (Security/laptop permissions change all the time but there’s not enough IT staff to help on immediate notice for example). Client relationships are continuing to decline since we were acquired by Vista. A lot of the “OG” BMS employees are starting to leave. (Note: most employees average working at BMS for 6 years. Now the turnover rate averages to one year). Pay is low but you are expected to do the job of multiple people.

Definitely Not Corporate

Pros

- Generous holiday calendar sitting around 20 per year. - Unlimited PTO plan can be nice if your manager is reasonable. - Lots of exposure to key players in the CLO/Hedge Fund space if you are client facing. - A lot of great people to work with, though they are leaving quickly now. - Work/life balance can be good if you advocate for yourself. If you do not, they will gladly work you to the bone. - Owned by a PE firm with a very successful track record.

Cons

- Pays well under market rate and acts as though market rates are ridiculous. - Annual raises ceased to keep up with inflation a few years back and pushing back is fruitless unless you have a competing offer in hand. - The CEO currently reported here on glassdoor (Mark Heimbouch) is no longer the CEO, that is outdated information. - Many middle managers are engineers who succeeded in that role and were then given people to manage with little to no management training. Some have run with it well, many have not. - Career growth for engineering roughly boils down to "hope your boss quits so you can get promoted". - Increasingly political culture where interaction between teams is often adversarial. - Meeting culture is heavy, by the time I left my average daily meeting time was over 4 hours. - The title is in jest. The concern of becoming overly corporate was raised during a company wide meeting and management dismissed it by asserting that we (the employees) have no idea what corporate looks like. - Reporting structure and upper management turnover results in a roadmap that is at best unclear. - Currently removing full work from home and monthly mental health day perks which were implemented during COVID. - Employee feedback from HR surveys seems to be completely ignored. - Seem to expect employees in Ukraine to function at full capacity during a war.
