Junior Web Developer

Job Purpose

To support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of websites and web applications. The Junior Web Developer works with senior developers, designers, and business teams to deliver reliable, user-friendly, and responsive digital solutions that meet organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining websites and web-based applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-structured code using modern web technologies.
• Develop responsive user interfaces compatible with different devices and browsers.
• Support front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related frameworks.
• Assist with back-end development tasks and database integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues and website errors.
• Conduct website testing, debugging, and performance improvements.
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers, senior developers, and project teams.
• Maintain and update existing websites and digital platforms.
• Participate in code reviews and follow development standards.
• Document technical changes, processes, and solutions.
• Support website security updates and best practices.
• Assist with version control and deployment processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in:
• Computer Science.
• Software Engineering.
• Information Technology.
• Web Development.
• Digital Technology.
• Or a related field.

Experience Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in web development.
• Internship, academic projects, or personal development projects are acceptable.
• Experience with website development or content management systems is an advantage.

Technical Skills Required

• Knowledge of front-end technologies:
• HTML5.
• CSS3.
• JavaScript.
• Basic knowledge of web frameworks such as:
• React.
• Angular.
• Vue.js.
• Understanding of responsive web design principles.
• Basic knowledge of databases:
• MySQL.
• PostgreSQL.
• SQL Server.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Basic understanding of APIs and web services.
• Knowledge of website hosting and deployment processes is an advantage.
• Familiarity with CMS platforms such as WordPress is beneficial.

New Zealand Workplace Requirements (Preferred)

Preferred Certifications (Optional)

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals.
• AWS Cloud Practitioner.
• Google UX/Web Development Certificates.
• Coding bootcamp or recognised web development certifications.

Pay: $65,000.00 per month
