Role Overview:

This role provides high-level technical expertise in solid surface materials (e.g., Corian). You will support the Lead Industrial Engineer in optimising production workflows and with advanced solid surface engineering technique expertise for external and internal design stakeholders.

Your primary function is to assist Architects, Designers (Interior, Kitchen & Bathroom) & Product Engineers by transforming creative design concepts into physically viable, structurally sound, and compliant products through technical vetting, CAD drafting, advanced material application (especially 3D thermoforming) & prototyping.
Many of these projects will be complex commercial installations, with specific focus on Hospital, Medical & other specialised Facilities, and may require supporting Fabrication, Joinery, & Commercial Fit Out businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cross-Disciplinary Architectural, Industrial & Product Design Support
__Review complex design concepts from architects and designers to assess structural feasibility, thermoforming limits, seamless joint placements that optimise colour & pattern matching, illumination & image relief delivery.
__Assist product engineers in executing manufacturing trial runs, analysing structural stress points, and developing standardized edge profiles or composite backing methods.

2. Technical Drafting, Documentation & BOM
__Convert design intent sketches into precision manufacturing blueprints and shop drawings via CAD software under the guidance of the Industrial Engineer.
__Calculate accurate material yields, nesting layouts, adhesive requirements, and hardware sub-assemblies to optimize cost estimation.

3. Material Engineering & Testing Operations
__Application of sophisticated Thermoforming & Elasticity Mapping, Illumination, High Precision Image Relief & Engraving, Inconspicuous Seam Alignment techniques to deliver required design outcomes.
__Conduct physical test protocols on fabricated solid surface structures under the guidance of the Industrial Engineer.
__Monitor and record fabrication metrics to refine industrial manufacturing workflows.

Complex Project Support
__Some projects may require on site installation support.

The successful applicant will have:

Essentials
__3+ years of experience within a dedicated solid surface fabrication facility or a high-end millwork engineering department, with a focus on delivery of specialised & complex commercial projects. Specific hospital & medical project experience would be beneficial.
__Comprehensive understanding of thermoforming, substrate preparation & structural support requirements.
__Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit, or similar, with specific experience in converting into 3D surface modelling.
