Apply your analytical skills to some of the world’s most demanding problems.
Jasmine Social Investments is a highly regarded private investment and philanthropy organisation that backs exceptional social ventures tackling some of the world's most pressing challenges. Combining the rigour of an investment firm with a deep commitment to creating positive change, they have deployed significant capital into organisations making a tangible difference across developing regions.
The portfolio spans girls’ education in rural India, maternal and newborn health in sub-Saharan Africa, smallholder farming across East Africa, and road safety in low- and middle-income countries. These organisations operate in difficult environments, often with complex structures, constrained funding, and incomplete evidence bases. Their role is to understand them well enough to make confident, well-reasoned investment decisions, and to articulate those decisions clearly to partners and co-investors.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Investment Associate to join their Auckland-based team. This is a rare chance for an intellectually curious and commercially minded professional to combine strong analytical capability with genuinely purpose-driven work.
Working closely with senior leaders, you will contribute to investment decisions, due diligence, and impact measurement, while gaining exposure to global social ventures and a broad range of stakeholders. This role offers exceptional learning opportunities and the chance to be part of a small, high-performing team with the energy and pace of a start-up.
Key responsibilities include:
- Write detailed investment reports, conduct financial analysis, and make sure the argument holds together end-to-end.
- Interrogate strategy, organisational performance, and impact metrics as part of full due diligence.
- Track portfolio organisations between investment cycles.
- Assess new funding opportunities across grants, equity, and debt.
- Research sectors, geographies, and emerging trends.
- Support relationships with portfolio organisations and co-investors.
About You
You have several years of corporate experience and have become accomplished at solving complex problems, critically evaluating information, writing succinctly, and stress-testing assumptions.
Ideally, you will bring:
- At least 3 years’ experience in corporate finance, transaction services, consulting, investment banking, or another rigorous analytical environment.
- Strong financial analysis and the ability to look beyond the numbers.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication.
- The capacity to manage substantial complexity and maintain a keen eye for detail.
- A proactive approach and a strong desire to learn.
Previous exposure to impact investing or the not-for-profit sector would be beneficial, but is not essential.
Why Join?
- Work with an exceptional, high-performing team committed to making a difference.
- Substantial responsibility from an early stage, working directly with some of the world’s best social entrepreneurs.
- Varied work across a global portfolio and the opportunity to develop expertise quickly.
- Opportunity for international travel.
- Flexible hybrid working environment and a genuine commitment to work-life balance.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an early-career investment professional seeking meaningful work and the chance to make a lasting impact.
